of the Holy Spirit. Jesus said, “I will send Him to you.” The Lord tells His disciples that He is going to die. Look ing into their sorrow-ladened faces, He declares with great compassion, “I will not leave you alone.” At Pente cost the Holy Spirit did come to in dwell their hearts as He does today for all those who believe in Christ. It has been well said that “The Holy Spirit is God living in the hearts of believers.” He convicts man of sin. When the Holy Spirit reveals the need THANKFULNESS How great our loving Father's care; How rich and free His blessings flow: No matter how, or when, or where. His mercies toward us daily grow. He knows our need, He hears our cry, He stoops to catch the trembling prayer; And e'er we call. He standeth nigh To lift from us our load of care. Our daily needs He doth supply; Our wants and wishes He doth know; For naught escapes His watchful eye— He shares our every weal or woe, So great His love, so rich His grace, He merits all our thankfulness; Thus may we prove our gratitude By living faith and righteousness. to an individual He shows the black heart. That individual sees his life as a den of evil. He is compelled to do something about it. Then, the Holy Spirit leads him to the foot of the cross and points him to the Saviour. No wonder He is

We have the Holy Spirit to encourage and to sustain us. He is the One who helps us to under stand the Bible. In my home I have a cozy chair in the corner of the living room. Some times I sit there and try to read while the darkening hours come on. When the light gets dim I reach over and turn on the electric lamp. Immediate ly I can see every letter and word clearly. In a like manner, we cannot read the Bible with our dim intelli gence. The pages will have little mean ing for us until we turn on the Light of God’s truth. The Spirit illuminates the Scriptures for He it is Who in spired them, and we are given en lightenment. There is another striking “I will” for us, suggesting constant compan ionship. Matthew records our Lord’s assuring promise, “Lo, I am with you always, even unto the end of the world.” Jesus had now risen from the dead. For forty days He had been upon the earth. As He prepares to go back to His Father’s house, He gives the helpful word to His disciples as well as to us. With Him there are no tomorrows for He is already there. Then why should we fear or fret? What great encouragement there is here for every Christian worker. As we stand to preach or to sing we can know that we are not alone. We have 30
