The scope of your internship will be an A-Z experience of Smith Gardens. As part of Marketing and Sales it is important to understand the workings of our company from start to finish. This knowledge will allow a successful and well rounded opportunity to represent the company through various outlets and projects.
PURPOSE & OBJECTIVE
Throughout your internship you will have an opportunity to experience various departments of the company at multiple locations. Each week you will work side by side with the teams gaining an understanding of the work required to execute their specific tasks that aid in the result of delivering quality products.
During this time you will take detailed notes:
Tasks required to successfully complete a project. The various roles within each department. How you see the values within the department or within an individual you work with. One example, based on a value of your choice, where you see an opportunity for improvement both personally and for the company.

Offer information about yourself. What are your goals. Why are interning at SGI. What do you hope to learn.
Ask questions about your department. Advice on how can you be successful in your tasks.

Keep track of everything you learn from your team members and about the department.
The more detailed notes you obtain will aid in the quality of your reviews.
The more questions you ask will deepen your understanding about not only the company but of the individuals you talk to as well.
The more open you are the greater an opportunity you have to create lasting relationships.

General overview of what you experienced. What you learned. What you enjoyed the most. Any challenges you experienced. Any other thoughts/ideas you may have.
One example of how you saw the values implemented into the daily work.

The four values continued: An example of at least one value you saw yourself utilize within the department. An example of a value you could see where improvement would be beneficial for greater success within the department. Tasks may vary throughout the program depending on the department. Example: Learning Navori and creating a slide deck for both PP&L and SGI that mimics each brand and ties us together.
PLEASE NOTE: Office time will be allotted for work on each writeup. Length of review and time allotted will be based on each individual experience.

Weeks 5-7 LOCATION: MERCHANDISING & MARYSVILLE, THE PERENNIAL HUB WEEK 5: Aurora Merchandising

FINAL NOTES Upon completion of the program you will be asked to write a detailed report or create a PowerPoint presentation that reviews each week of the program. A formal presentation of your discoveries will then be presented to a select group of team members. During your debriefs you will have an opportunity to spend time on the final presentation as well as ask questions and guidance.

Sarita will be your guide throughout your internship. Should any questions arise do not hesitate to contact her directly at anytime.
There will be weekly debriefs with Sarita to cover upcoming internship plans and goals and any questions that may come up along the way.
Each week you will have a new direct manager/supervisor that you will report to depending on the department you are you working within. This person will set your goals and expectations for the time spent within their department.
We ask that you treat each manager/supervisor with respect and follow their guidelines closely. Always ask questions when in doubt.
Plan to be flexible. Our industry is constantly changing and tasks/expectations are heavily weather dependent. There will be times when departments may change quickly.
