WORK IN THE SHOPS

ing, but at the close of a meeting under these conditions, a Spirit-led worker was directed to one man in particular. For three successive weeks he had been personally spoken to in regard to his soul, and the Lord Jesus Christ’s wonderful love and sac rifice for the ungodly had been faithfully and repeatedly and tenderly pressed upon him, for definite acceptance, as Saviour and Lord, and just think of it! In all that uproar we discovered him under deep con viction, and eager to receive the Saviour. Passage after passage was carefully written down by him for future reference at home. His quivering lips and tear-stained eyes, as he clung to us and with husky voice en treated our continued prayers in his behalf to stand true for his newly found Saviour, manifested to our hearts the deep reality of yet another soul “passing from death to life” at His call. Blessed salvation, once for all! No won der the Devil was busy there that day. He always is when something is doing for God and eternity. Our methods of reaching the men have changed considerably during the past month, as we believe the leading of the Spirit has directed. Those who prefer the noisy games and play, go to their own. The separation is becoming more and more marked, and in place of an almost superhuman effort to drown the confusion and strife of tongues by hurling great chunks of precious seed, at the top of one’s voice, into the camp of the Philistines, we have been addressing in a very informal, conversational way, those who were more readily approachable, in groups around the tables. We find many interested men, and realize that the con stant, steady sowing is surely sinking in. One meeting not long.since in our very largest barn was in a perfect uproar; the shuffling, hustling, hurrying crowd coming and going; the loud voices, laughter, jesting and bantering, combined with the noise from pool tables and games of cards, was deafen
