Mighty Manuka Manuka honey is a unique type of honey which is highly regarded for its potent antibacterial properties.

Manuka honey is produced in New Zealand and Australia from the nectar of the manuka tree (Leptospermum species). Long used for its culinary and health-giving qualities, it is increasingly popular today as modern science and medicine discover and confirm its numerous health benefits. Quality and potency Methylglyoxal (MGO) is one of the most important components of manuka honey, because it is responsible for its antibacterial properties. MGO is present in varying amounts in different batches of manuka honey, and it is the level of MGO in the honey that is used to determine its quality and potency. In short, the higher the MGO level, the stronger the honey’s antibacterial properties will be.
