ANIL JHALLI anil.jhalli@eap.on.ca

It’s an event that promises some glitz and glamour, all while raises awareness and funds for a historic community structure. The first of what hopes to be an annual event, the Sparkle and Pine Cocktail Gala Fundraiser is taking place on Thursday, Nov. 28 at the legendary Tucker House, located at 1731 Tucker Road in Rockland. The fundraiser takes place from 6:30 p.m. until 9:30 p.m and includes a silent auction that raises funds for Tucker House’s various community initiatives. “We’re excited to bring the Rockland com- munity together for a night that celebrates food, fashion and philanthropy,” said Chantal Sarkisian, the event’s host and organizer. “The Sparkle and Pine Gala is about making meaningful connections, while raising crucial funds to support Tucker House’s mission of sustainability and community care.” Originally from Toronto, Sarkisian has lived in Rockland for the past three years. Sarkisian said she wanted to create something for the community, while brin- ging together local business leaders and entrepreneurs for an evening of mingling and networking, all while shining a spotlight on the Tucker House. “I come from a background in fundraising, and we would always organize one, big fun- draising event a year that would really be the most important one,” she said. “It’s one of those events that welcomes anyone and gives them a chance to get out that dress they have wanted to wear for so long, or that suit that you haven’t had a chance to wear. Guests are encouraged to dress to impress as the evening will celebrate not only com- munity spirit but also style and elegance.”
