PUHSD’s “Placer School for Adults” (PSA) provides incredible courses, services, and programs for our community. Here’s a message from PSA’s new Principal, Steven Casperite, as an update on the start of the school year at PSA: Episode #5 ~ Homecoming & 20-Year Celebration @ FHS Episode #6 ~ Career Technical Education (CTE) @ CHS Episode #7 ~ Wellness Centers

Our classes began at the end of July and the beginning of August, with the full range of classes starting the week of August 12th. We have a diverse student body that is learning English and working towards high school diplomas or equivalency (GED). A few of our Career and Technical Education (CTE) programs include truck driving, AI for home and the workplace, the Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) program, and the entrepreneurship/start-your-own business program ~ in addition to many others.

Our Inmate Education Programs are also at capacity, and this year, we will be offering basic electrical training, truck driving, and a Sierra College class along with our other academic programs. We have expanded our programming to meet the needs of Nevada County and the Tahoe- Truckee region with a new administrator, staff, and teachers. Additionally, our Nevada County Corrections Education Program saw its first GED completer of this school year graduate on August 14th!!

Haley Hull Lastly, one of our outstanding students, Haley Hull, received the ACSA Region Two “Every Student Succeeding” Award and will be represented at the State conference in San Diego this November, where Governor Gavin Newsom's wife will be in attendance. Haley also has a wonderful YouTube video produced by ACSA, which you can access through this link: There are MANY success stories in our PSA programs and we couldn’t be more proud of the work done by these incredibly dedicated students and the amazing staff members who encourage and guide them. In addition to Principal Casperite, we welcome two new administrators to PSA.
