In 2019 e CSULB University Bookstore asked me to re-conceptualize their annual Graduation Fair Event. e Grad Fair is the biggest event that the bookstore hosts all year and they wanted a big concept and visual identity to reect that. I created "e Game of Grad" a gamied interactive event based o the e Game of Life. Upon entering the bookstore students are given a game board stamp card which they can use as a guide map to navigate the dierent stations. e entire bookstore is overhauled leading up to the event with special way nding and decorative signage all designed entirely by me to reinforce the board game concept. I also created and regularly update an entire marketing package for the event with social media posts and videos, in store screens and signage, web graphics, and promotional signage that goes up throughout the entire campus. University Art Store Window Graphics
As part of a revitalization project for the CSULB University Art Supply Store, I created three large scale illustrated graphics for the windows at the front entrance. I wanted the graphics to evoke the fun and excitement we all felt creating art as kids, because I believe that those of us who have chosen careers in art and design have never lost that feeling. As a way of reaching out to potential customers who may not normally shop at the art store, I designed the illustrations to highlight not only the art supplies, but some of the snacks, drinks, and school supplies that the store also sells.
Promo Posters
Promotional posters I designed to highlight events, sales, and specials at various Beach Shops locations throughout the Cal State Long Beach Campus. All of the illustrations, photography, photo editing, and graphic design for these posters were done entirely by me. Clients include the University Bookstore, University Art Supply Store, University Computer Store, e Nugget Grill & Pub, e Caeine Lab coee shop and Beach Shops corporate. 22x28 Prints of each design were displayed in each location and also shared on social media.

A collection of some of my digital illustration work. All of these pieces were created in Adobe Illustrator using the pen tool and a mouse. is is my preferred method of illustration as it allows for maximum control when creating smooth and precise line work. Clean lines, precision, and symmetry have become trademarks of my artwork, and so has my vintage Halloween inspired color palette and my "spooky surrealist" aesthetic. Designs featuring predominantly simple geometric shapes are created from the ground up in Illustrator, but for more complex illustrations I tend to hand draw everything in my sketchbook rst and then trace the original drawing in Illustrator.

A series of full page and half page print ads I created for Visual Lighting Technologies which appeared in trade publications both domestically and internationally. e ads promote the companies new outdoor lighting series as well as their display lighting series. e full page ad is inspired by the painting "Empire of Light" by surrealist Renee Magritte in which a beam of light from a street lamp projects an image of a daytime sky cutting through the dark. e concept was chosen to communicate how bright the xtures where. At the time they were the brightest outdoor LED xtures available on the market.

Grave hearts Design
Si ne 2019 my wife Megan and I have been vending at various events throughout California with our home business Grave hearts Design. In addition to design- ing all of our products, including stickers, pins, patches and apparel, I also designed and built all of our signage and displays, and do all of our social media and promotion. I coordinate all of our shows and events, network with potential creative partners and vendors, and I designed and maintain our online store. Grave hearts Design is my creative outlet, but more than that, it gives my art purpose and provides me with a reason to keep creating and keep improving. It has also allowed me to help build a community of like-minded artists and designers.
In 2022 e 49er Shops at Cal State Long Beach were rebranded as Beach Shops. I was entrusted to create the logo and establish the entire corporate visual identity. My goal was to create branding that was closely in line with the campus itself, and I worked directly with the campus marketing team to incorporate their established marks, fonts, and colors. I based the Beach Shops logo o a stylized "Beach" graphic that the campus has recently incorporated. I created a subtle black and grey prism background inspired by the Walter Pyramid, an iconic campus landmark, which I included in the designs for all of the corporate in store, and exterior signage, as well as all marketing materials. Moving forward I updated the marketing materials for all of the individual Beach Shops locations to fall in line with the newly established visual identity, and I began creating and implementing a Corporate Style Guide. Corporate Branding
Super Whittles In 2025 I was invited to participate in the "Tied Up in Knott's" art gallery at Knott's Berry Farm, during their annual Boysenberry Festival. As a big fan of the park I was honored to be part of this very special, exclusive art Gallery. e theme of the gallery was "Nostalgia" and I thought it would be fun to do a mash up of Knott’s Berry Farm’s iconic gold miner character Whittles and the Super Mario Brothers. I created a ctional game called "Super Whittles in Boysenberry Land" and designed and assembled a ‘Berry Boy’ game cartridge box with artwork based o of Super Mario Land for the original Gameboy, with Knott’s Berry Farm taking the place of the Mushroom Kingdom. I also created 8x10 prints of the game art to sell during the event and each on came with a sticker of Super Whittles.
In 2024 I was requested to completely redesign all of the instructional and guideline signage for the three residential dining halls at Cal State Long Beach. Our residential dining team had expressed concerns that the students were no longer reading or adhering to the rules and guidelines on the existing signage. I reimagined all of their text based signage as a series of infographics with the intention of making them more visually engaging and attention getting. I also created categories, and consolidated and combined signage as much as possible to reduce the overwhelming visual clutter that was making our messaging unclear. Finally we made two dierent variations of each sign, one for the spring semester, and one for the fall so we could swap the signs out regularly to keep them from fading into the background. As part of the redesign I also made sure the new signage fell in line with the newly updated corporate identity by incorporating our corporate color palette and the prism background. About Me
My name is Vincenzo Savastano and I am an illustrator, graphic designer, world traveler, starry eyed optimist, and basement ska show attendee from Los Angeles, California. My life as a graphic designer began in high school creating yers and merch for my punk band DWI as well as some of the other bands we regularly played with. I had always loved to draw and began playing around with Adobe Photoshop and Illustrator at a very young age on my brothers computer, so when the time came to create a logo for the band and a yer for our rst show, I was the natural choice. at logo was the rst I ever created. At 17 I enrolled at the Art Institute of California in Santa Ana, and graduated with a degree in Graphic Design in 2008. I have been consistently working as a professional graphic designer ever since. Additionally I create and sell various products and collectible items featuring my art and designs at events all throughout California under the name Grave hearts Design. I do what I do, because it's the only thing I could ever imagine doing and it’s the only thing I have ever been good at. I started doing art as a way of communicating with the world, and through art, I have found my place in it.
