UPDATES FROM THE WGCIT The Western Growers Center for Innovation and Technology was created to link Western Growers members with innovators in the agtech space. Below are news updates from the Center’s startups.
aerialPLOT is committed to helping growers optimize production and conduct field-scale research with cutting-edge aerial imagery and data management solutions. In 2025, we will launch aerialFARMS, a new tool for farm-scale data insights, enabling growers to detect early signs of crop decay, ensure timely interventions, and visualize recovery. Backed by six years of development, our cloud-based platform equips growers and agronomists with high-quality imagery and precision data analytics, providing actionable insights. aerialFARMS will enable informed decisions faster, reduce operational costs, and enhance the overall sustainability of their farming operations. We continue to work with select partners on early demonstration projects. If interested, please contact us at info@aerialplot.com.

Agrology announced in August that two esteemed soil health experts, Dr. Jessica Chiartas and Chuck Schembre, have joined the company as scientific advisors. Their deep soil health knowledge and experience will be instrumental in guiding Agrology customers to interpret and utilize soil data and more intimately understand the impacts of regenerative agriculture practices. In addition, the advisors will help Agrology advance their Arbiter product, develop new soil health metrics to help inform grower decision- making, and ensure that Agrology data meets the highest scientific standards.

Agtools
Agtools was invited to International Finance Corporation’s (IFC) second agribusiness conference in Dublin, Ireland, which focused on leveraging technology for sustainable agriculture. Agtools is unveiling the Advanced Phase Expert System (APExS), which rigorously reconciles a myriad of intractable extrinsic facets influencing said commodities, for smart contracts up and downstream. Equally important, Agtools launched a precipitation widget, specific to the region and the crop, to hedge trends. Droughts or excessive rainfall directly impact each crop, especially during transition. Agtools’ AI hardware and software are now fully operational with its proprietary LLMs.
Bio S.I. Technology is ending the 2024 season with solid performance on a multitude of farms throughout California on a variety of specialty crops. Utilizing the power of fermentation containing novel microbial consortium, we have demonstrated at various scales, the value of adding beneficial soil microbes into challenging ground in which yield-drag and/or quality has been an issue. Our trials, both small-plot and large-scale commercial, have consistently outperformed the high-performing ground used as a comparative control. Bio S.I. agronomic trials include microbiome analysis to substantiate how the product changes the soil, pre and post product application, in addition to above ground sap analysis quantifying nutrient cycling and availability. We are proud to work ranch-by-ranch to uncover the root of the problem, not just offering a one-size-fits-all solution. Tracking throughout the season allows our team to make targeted recommendations based on the soil microbiome and crop health indicators. We are a collaborative, agile, family-owned company and have partnered with some of the best in the agricultural industry: Agrology, New Age Laboratories, Biome Makers, Trace Genomics, SoilTech Wireless, Growers Research Innovation Network, Great Crops, A&L Laboratories and Cal Poly Strawberry Center. We thank our current distributors for their collaboration and commitment to providing their growers with a multitude of tools aimed at increasing soil health: Buttonwillow Warehouse Company, Nature Based Technologies, Miya Farms, Coastal Growers Supply Inc, Farmer’s Fertilizer, Grow West and North Valley Ag Services.
