SCORING GUIDE & REQUIRED ELEMENTS RHYTHM DANCE | The rhythm dance consists of required elements, including dance lifts, spins, twizzles, step sequences and sections of pattern dances. DURATION: 2:50 (+/- 10 seconds) DANCE SPINS: One dance spin TWIZZLES: One set of synchronized twizzles STEP SEQUENCES: One step sequence in hold and one one-foot turns sequence
PATTERN DANCE REQUIREMENTS: One pattern dance type step sequence CHOREOGRAPHIC ELEMENT: One choreographic rhythm sequence FREE DANCE | A free dance should display a full range of technical skills, interpretation and inventiveness to music. Music is the couple’s choice. DURATION: 4:00 (+/- 10 seconds) MUSIC: Must have an audible rhythmic beat LIFTS: One short lift and one combination lift, or three different types of short lifts
CHOREOGRAPHIC ELEMENTS: Three different elements, chosen from a choreographic dance lift, a choreographic spinning movement, a choreographic assisted jump movement, a choreographic twizzling movement, a choreographic sliding movement, a choreographic character step sequence or a choreographic hydoblading movement.
MUSIC: For the 2023-24 season, couples must skate to music that was originally released in the decade of the 1980s. LIFTS: One short lift STEP SEQUENCE: One step sequence not touching from midline or diagonal patterns. TWIZZLES: One set of sequential twizzles
