The best time to book last-minute vacations for both availability and cost are off-season or mid-week. For example, if you decide on a last-minute trip to Vegas, you will have better luck if you go Sunday through Wednesday. Europe is a popular destination from June to September, so you’ll have more last-minute opportunities to book outside of that time frame. Looking for a hot getaway near the ocean and beach, such as an all-inclusive? Those are going to be all booked up between November and March. Going off-season, however, you run the risk of uncomfortably high temperatures or rainy seasons. Or worse…. Hurricane season. The only disadvantage I can think of when looking at last- minute vacations is that you can run the risk of low inventory by waiting to book. Low flight options, lower-end resorts and excursions may be limited, that sort of thing. However, if you are looking to hop on a cruise ship, park your rear on a deck chair and read for seven days straight, I say do it! Be sure to get up every once and a while to grab an ice cream cone, you know, so your legs don’t cramp up. So why book with a Travel Advisor? Booking not only last- minute vacations but any trips with me is your best bet. I have the product knowledge, insights and expertise that I can share. I can tell you if that cruise ship you found online really is a great deal, or if that beach that looks so inviting is too short and therefore will be super crowded, or if the hotel you want to stay at the night before your early flight is clean and comfortable and whether transfers from the airport to the resort are included. Nothing worse than finding out you have to pay $200 for a cab!

We get the inside scoop; do wide searches; find the best air fares if needed; will conduct price comparisons, and will also keep an eye out to make sure if your booked trip drops in price so you can get the better deal. Consider me next time you fire up your laptop and reach for your mouse to look for a trip. A few tips for smooth travel outside of Canada: • You should ensure your passport is valid (six-month rule!) • Secure your ESTA or Visa early if you need it • Get travel/health insurance just in case -- U.S medical is costly! Carry all of your necessary prescriptions in original containers • At customs, declare all items with border agents • I always carry printed copies of our documents as a backup • If flying, allow extra time for security and customs • Always be mindful of your surroundings, everywhere.
