Message from Lifestyle Janine The past few months have been filled with wonderful activities, celebrations, and special moments here at Cumberland View. In December, the festive season brought plenty of Christmas cheer. Residents enjoyed Christmas movie afternoons, writing and sending Christmas cards to
loved ones, and decorating our Christmas trees together. We were delighted to have the residents from the Retirement Village perform their Christmas Revue Show, which was thoroughly enjoyed by everyone. A highlight of the season was our Christmas Lights Bus Tour, where residents sang carols while admiring the beautiful neighbourhood lights. We finished the year with our Cumberland View Christmas Party, where residents and families enjoyed a delicious festive spread prepared by our kitchen team and wonderful entertainment from The Golden Girls. We welcomed the New Year in January with a relaxing Scenic Bus Drive, along with our regular Friday Happy Hour and entertainment sessions. During the month we also acknowledged La Befana and Orthodox Christmas, celebrated Elvis Presley’s birthday with a sing-along, and marked Australia Day with a special Aussie Afternoon Tea and entertainment featuring Laura performing some great Australian classics. In February, residents enjoyed another Scenic Bus Drive and a special activity called “Hear My Wedding Story”, where residents and some family members shared memories and photos from their wedding days. Valentine’s Day was celebrated with entertainment by John D, followed by an Afternoon Tea and the romantic movie Sleepless in Seattle. We also celebrated Chinese New Year with the colourful MCPA Chinese Dancers, and enjoyed more wonderful entertainment including Lorenzo in Concert, relaxing harp music with Susan Graham, a visit from Milo our Pet Therapy dog, and a lively Jazz Happy Hour with Ray Quon. Looking ahead to March, April and May, we are excited for the 2026 AFL season and our popular Cumberland View Footy Tipping Competition. Residents can also look forward to a Vera Lynn Tribute Show, the return of our High Tea, and St Patrick’s Day celebrations where everything will be turning green. With Easter approaching, we are excited to welcome back the Henny Penny Hatchlings, where residents can watch baby chicks hatch and help care for them. And of course… there will be plenty of Easter chocolate to enjoy! We are also looking forward to our first ever Puppet Show with Stephen from Puppets Alive, which promises to be lots of fun for everyone. It has been a wonderful start to the year and we look forward to many more enjoyable moments together with our residents, families and community. Janine Linnert Lifestyle Cooordinator
