in te rp re t th e Bible, outside of th e Bible’s in terp retation of itself. When any one undertakes to w rite an in terp retation th a t is no t clearly w ithin th e in terp retation th e Bible itself gives, he is outside of his province and outside of his power. The Bible itself is God’s infallible Word, His everlasting stand ard th a t cannot he changed. You cannot amend it, nor sub tract from , nor add to it. I t is th e stand ard fixed by A lmighty God. God made the standard , and sent th e Third Person of th e T rin ity to be the teacher. The Bible is the stand ard ; th e Holy Ghost is th e teacher, th e advocate. Advocate of what, of whom? Why, the Holy Ghost is in the world to advocate bu t one person, namely Jesus Christ. Two Advocates in th e World ..The Holy Ghost is here as the advocate of Christ, th e sec ond member of the T rinity, who vicariously died, and whose vicarious d eath is the means by which you can he saved. T h at is the work of th e Holy Ghost. Every man who has offered to him any other th an Jesus Christ, has th a t person, policy, program or cult subm itted to him by th e ag en t of th e an tich rist. There are two advocates in th e world. One is God, in the person of the Third Person of th e Trinity. The other is the agent of th e an tich rist, who is denying Christ and advocating everything eise hu t Christ. There fore, the Holy Ghost is here saying to you: “ Christ died for you. Let Him save you.” Satan is, in the person of some one else, saying, “Oh, you don’t have to be saved through the blood.” One is an tich rist, and th e o th er is th e Third Person of the T rinity. To whom are you going to listen? The Com fort of th e Com forter The T hird Person of th e T rinity is h ere com forting. Oh, what a blessed thought! I am talk ing now to saints who are saved and have the blessings of His com forting p res ence. Precious friends, do you need com forting? I do not know how to define th e word “ com forter.” I frank ly say to you it is too big. Do you need com forting? Are you peevish, fretfu l, opinionated, arrog an t, self-righteous? Who is going to comfort you? Did you ever have Him pick you up? Did you ever have Him hold you? He will do it if you will le t Him. And when you come in from battle, oh, how weary, tired , fre tfu l and exhausted you are. You know the awful tension of being in a contest. Christ was in battle, and th e Holy Ghost succored and comforted H im ; therefore, He will com fort and succor you. W ere you ever lost? If you ever needed com fort it was when you were lost. You are lost when you lose th e sense of direction. No man was ever lost because th e road was not there. You lose your way because you lose the sense of direction, though you may he w ithin ten yards of the road. You immediately go around in a circle. When you were lost, who picked you up and brough t to your remem brance all things th a t God has done for you? Who gave you th e sense of direction, and who began to pray w ith and ta lk to you? The Holy Ghost. The valley and the darkness will overtake all, hu t down th rough th e valley they must walk. Through th e dan ger they stumble and fall, bu t th rough th e valley and the - shadow of death th e Holy Ghost makes it ligh t enough. One by one we are going home. The voice of comfort, th e arm s of love, the sup ern atu ral support and th e everlasting bless ings are yours, because God loves, Christ died, and the Holy Ghost advocates. The program of the Holy Ghost is to lift you out of th e path of hell, to regenerate your soul, to walk th rough the valley w ith you, and to g ath er you home. Oh, God, it is a stupendous task to save a sinner, bu t Christ died to do so, and all who accept Him shall he saved.
