Foundation participated in these efforts by supporting undergradu- ate brothers with over $400,000 in grants and aid during the teeth of the pandemic.

Boms stated, “We have had to be thoughtful about our engagements. As we have worked through this new normal, we have learned that expectations within our communi- ties, campuses and workspaces have been redefined. Some of the new ways we have engaged have become permanent, with hybrid meetings and events. And, we have found some efficiencies with these engagements. We have learned that it is our duty to ensure each member is provided with opportunities to achieve no matter the medium,” he continued.

Undergraduate and Alumni Chapters Coming Together

This time period in Kappa Alpha Psi provided opportunities for un- dergraduate chapters and alumni chapters to bond. Junior Grand Vice Polemarch Myles C. Miller stated “It is imperative to network with brothers in the bond whether they are undergraduate or alumni. Brothers are much more supportive of initiatives when they understand the benefit of the idea and why you may be passionate about it. If you are genuinely trying to do work for the advancement of the fraternity brothers will take notice and put you in the right posi- tions to inspire change.” “Alumni brothers also skilled at identifying young leaders prior to them becoming self-aware. Leadership Engagement

The undergraduate Grand Chapter Officers engaged other collegiate leaders during the Association of Fraternal Leadership and Values Con- ference in Indianapolis, IN. This was followed by participating in the NPHC of Southeastern Pennsylvania Nation- al Leadership Conference under the banner “And Still We Rise: The Power of Unity.” Scores of brothers engaged in LEAD Kappa, a highly structured and intense leadership experience. The focus was training participants in developing and enhancing capacity- building skills to lead on college and university campuses, the Fraternity, in their respective communities and in Corporate America. Dozens of high- achieving brothers participated in the Undergraduate Leadership Institute held in Charlotte, NC.

New Corporate Partnerships and Internships

Corporate America sponsored in- ternships and scholarships for un- dergraduates. For example, the GEICO Changemaker Award provided $20,000 in scholarships. Both NAS- CAR and the Volkswagen Group of America provided paid opportunities for their internship programs. Other corporate partnerships included the NBA, Salesforce, Capital One, and the Princeton Review.
