For over 20 years, Mast Young Plant’s annual summer trial garden invites visitors to browse several acres of plants in actual garden conditions, preview new varieties, and gain design inspiration from the 500+ custom combinations on display. Our trial garden gives you confidence in your plant selections. Rather than choosing varieties for our program from breeder photo galleries, we carefully select only the varieties from industry-leading breeders that meet our high standards for quality and which we are confident we can grow well for you. When you visit, you can view our new varieties displayed alongside industry favorites, allowing you to select those you prefer for your program and customers. Use our new variety guide booklet to learn more about each new introduction and to jot down your own notes about these new selections. We are eager to connect people to plants by welcoming customers, sales representatives, and breeders to our trial garden this summer. Our garden is open to the public from July through September and is fully staffed during the Michigan Garden Plant Tour from July 24 - August 4. Drop-in visitors are welcome, and we encourage visitors to schedule a visit for a more personalized experience by contacting our office.
