The question we are aiming to answer is what the next generation scorer will look like. This can only be determined using empirical data analysis, and the optimal solution may be different depending on the board, the machine, and the configuration of the tool- ing. Sauer System is adamant that continuous improve- ment is critical to long term success. “Product lines that saw significant upticks in 2024 in- cluded male and female scoring rings for high-speed flexo folder-gluers, complete packages of glue tab and slotter heads, folding section upgrades (including Hold-Down Roller Eliminator upgrades), and service/maintenance pro- grams. “Sauer System’s ‘Hold-Down Roller Eliminator’ product also had a record year with Sauer System selling nearly an upgrade a week in 2024. Hold-Down Roller Eliminator (HDRE) is an upgrade that replaces the hold-down rollers in the folding section of a downfold flexo folder-gluer with composite spring-loaded shoe style pieces. “Hold-Down Roller Eliminator has been a successful product because it challenges a machine concept that has been in use for decades, replacing it with a system that is a significant improvement. Customers of the system have seen improvements in quality while also seeing a dramatic reduction in downtime and maintenance costs. “Sauer System field engineers made a record number of stops at customer sites throughout the year. Our en- tire mission is driven by helping our customers improve. There is no replacement for Sauer System’s field team vis- iting customer sites, looking at ways to help improve the box-making process. “Product development continued throughout 2024 cul- minating in Sauer System’s proprietary split folding belt pulley solution, officially released to the market at the end of 2024. “The split pulleys have demountable bonded polyure- thane pulley rings and replaceable keyway inserts. Their split design allows the bore to be cleaned and maintained. Split pulleys are yet another example of an innovative product that solves a problem and improves machine per- formance. Several additional new products are slated for release during 2025. “Looking ahead, 2025 is expected to be every bit as busy as 2024. We expect to solve more problems in 2025 than any other year and are committed to having a notice- able, strong, lasting presence in the industry.
