Anti-Counterfeiting Pharma Packaging Surges BY GREG KISHBAUGH
FPA Celebrates 75th Anniversary
The Flexible Packaging Association (FPA) celebrates its 75th anniversary in 2025. The FPA will begin celebrating this milestone at its 2025 Annual Meeting, which will take place March 5-7, 2025, in Miami, Florida. Seizing Opportunities As the industry moves forward, FPA is fo- cused on seizing opportunities that maximize sustainability and achieve circular economy goals. Innovation in design and functionality will also be a major focus, as flexible packag- ing continues to enhance consumer conve- nience while reducing food and other prod- uct waste.
The global Anti-Counterfeit Pharmaceutical Packaging market, valued at $47.96 billion in 2023, is on a trajectory of significant growth, pro- jected to reach $138.88 billion by 2032, according to a new report from Introspective Market Research. This rising drive corresponds to a Com- pound Annual Growth Rate of 12.54 percent over the forecast period from 2024 to 2032.
The global market for anti-counterfeit pharmaceutical packaging is growing rapidly, driven by the increasing incidence of counterfeit drugs and a heightened demand for secure packaging options. The dangers posed by counterfeit medications have led to stricter regula- tions aimed at ensuring drug quality. Governments and organizations around the world are implementing tough regulations to fight against fake drugs, which is pushing manufacturers to embrace advanced packaging technologies. These technologies include holograms, QR codes, RFID tags, and tamper-evident seals, all of which improve prod- uct traceability and give consumers confidence in the authenticity of their medications. Recent advancements in technology, such as digital serialization and blockchain solutions, have also contributed to the market’s growth. These innovations allow pharmaceutical companies to track the entire drug supply chain, from production to sale, ensuring both quality and authenticity. Furthermore, they enhance storage and retrieval systems, making operations more efficient. Consequently, the market is shifting toward more advanced packaging solutions that not only address se- curity concerns but also function as effective tools for data collection and management.
In honor of its 75th anniversary, FPA is creating a commemorative storybook that chronicles the progress of the flexible pack- aging industry over the years. This storybook will capture key milestones, innovations, and the people who have shaped the industry into what it is today. Additionally, celebra- tory videos featuring reflections from mem- bers, leaders, and board chairs spanning the decades will be unveiled during the Annual Meeting and throughout 2025.
