Asteria Group has taken over Mercian Labels, marking the integration of the UK-based company as its 41st pro- duction location, as reported by Detik Finance. Financial terms of the transaction remain undisclosed by both par- ties. Mercian Labels operates from Burntwood, Stafford- shire, where it develops self-adhesive labels for food, drinks, and pharmaceutical customers. Its manufacturing capabilities encompass flexographic and digital printing, including inkjet, alongside various fin- ishing options. The business also supplies blank labels and variable data products to its clients. According to a company state- ment by Asteria, the acquisition broadens its operational footprint in the UK labels market. Mercian brings specialized experience in tamper-evi- dent and security labels designed to support product pro- tection and traceability for higher-value goods. Its Label- Lock range includes security labels and tapes equipped with features such as micro text on a transparent adhesive edge and an ‘in-register’ void message. According to the company, each label and every 150mm of tape contains a unique printed number beneath the sur- face and a scannable code intended to reduce the risk of editing or replacement.
