Artist Statement Since my birth, I have always been a comedian, entertainer, and artist. As a child, I created voices for puppets and could make up stories on the spot. In high school I made a large mural of funny people. My art instructor made me promise that I would keep creating art.

Recently, I returned to acrylic painting and quickly realized that I needed to learn everything all over again. I started taking classes at The Drawing Studio and have not stopped. I am more excited about learning than I ever have been. The art featured on this issue’s cover, Best of the Best, acrylic, 30 x 24 canvas by Shireen Altemus (full image above)
