A note about our cow herd . . . . We pride ourselves on having a low maintenance, hands free cowherd. The fall and spring cow herds are calved on native range. Mature cows as well as first calf heifers are expected to calve without assistance and get their calves up on their own. Spring bred heifers are run through a shed in January and February. This group is the only one that gets any assistance with the weather. The cows do not see a shed, no matter the weather. We do not milk out any cows, tolerate any bad attitudes, or offer any special treatment. — The bottom line is, the cows work for us not the other way around. —
