SPECIAL EDITION CATALOG

Lent is a period of reflection, prayer, and self-examination before Easter, serving as a time to prepare for celebrating Jesus' resurrection by focusing on repentance, considering one’s own shortcomings, and meditating on Christ's suffering and sacrifice.

Ash Wednesday February 18, 2026 Services at 12PM & 6:30PM

Ash Wednesday is the traditional beginning of the season of Lent. It involves a worship service with times of confessional prayer and the imposition of ashes. Ashes have long been a symbol of repentance, sorrow, and sacrifice. We remember that we come from dust and to dust we shall return; yet this life journey is both known by God and redeemed by the love of Christ.

Palm Sunday March 29, 2026

Palm Sunday is a day of drama and paradox - of a crowd gathering to shout "Hosanna" (Hebrew for "Save us"), wanting to crown Jesus as king, but who later will call for this same king to be crucified outside the city walls. The triumphal entry into Jerusalem was celebrated with waving palm branches as Jesus entered humbly on a donkey.

Maundy Thursday, April 2, 2026 Informal Gathering at 6PM Service begins at 6:30PM in Fellowship Hall Maundy Thursday is the traditional "Three Days" of Holy Week, remembering how Christ gathered his disciples for a meal together shortly before his arrest and gave them a new commandment: "love one another as I have loved you," which he embodied in washing his disciples' feet as a servant. This service will likewise be centered around sharing a real meal together, interwoven with by contemplative-style worship in Scripture, music, prayer, and reflection, as well as sharing the sacrament of Communion.

Good Friday, April 3, 2026 Service at 7:30PM

The Good Friday service moves the story of the last days of Jesus' earthly life forward from the early morning hours when Jesus was condemned to be crucified to the dark early evening hours when Jesus died on the cross and was laid in a borrowed tomb. The last words Jesus spoke from the cross will be remembered.

Passed Our Limitations: The Power of Community

I’ll Push You is the story of two friends who embark on a spiritual journey across the Camino de Santiago. What makes their pilgrimage remarkable is that one friend pushes the other who is confined to a wheelchair. Their book provides insights into friendship and community while exploring spiritual truths that remind us to embrace life even when we experience limitations. Like the themes in the book, the emphasis during Lent is self-reflection, simplicity and spiritual discipline. Join us as we explore spiritual disciplines that push past our limitations and draw us closer to God. Zoom Link, Meeting ID: 892 7128 0049 | Passcode: 269356. Incarnated Spirituality: Integrating Heart and Head

Sunday, March 1 - March 29, 2026, in the Founders Room at 3:30PM

Our society compartmentalizes life on multiple levels. We have mental health and physical health. There are entire schools of psychology that focus on emotional health, and millions of pages have been written about spiritual health. But life is messy and in reality, these multiple facets of our life are intimately related. Affliction in any one area affects the others. Purposeful- focused walking is one of the best ways to break the barriers between mental, physical and spiritual health. Walking helps the body and the mind to become synchronized so that through self-reflection we can draw closed to God. For five Sunday’s during the Lenten season we will incorporate walking, spiritual practices and other experiential lessons to focus attention inward. Through this process we can recognize the holy places that feed our spirit. We will meet at 3:30PM in Founder’s Room for brief instruction on the day’s walk and meditation. We will walk for about an hour (4-5) at various locations and return to Woods around 5PM for fellowship and sharing the experience. Participants unable to walk for an hour will have an experiential lesson at Woods. For more information, there will be a table in the Fellowship Hall.
