Jones Family Angus: Working Bulls For the Working Cattlemen [3/14/26]

WELCOME TO JONES FAMILY ANGUS, Hello, and welcome to the seventh annual production sale at Jones Family Angus. It’s hard to believe this is our seventh sale. What a time to be in the cattle business. We think owning Flint Hills Stockyards along with having a seedstock operation will align very well in the future. We are truly excited to be offering our deepest set of 18-month and yearling registered Angus bulls. There will be 4 Gelbvieh balancer bulls in the offering as well as 3 SimAngus Bulls. We are going to continue to run a 3 breed program. Along with 40 bulls we will be offering a nice set of commercial spring heifer pairs. These girls are ranch heifers and a balance of black and baldy heifers. Nice set. The Angus bulls this year is an extremely strong set to look at. All of the bulls are out of Al sires or our JFA Battalion 316 herd sire. He sold for $20,000 in our 2024 production sale. The bulls have been running on a 35 acre trap and getting fed silage, ddgs, and prairie hay along with a balancer supplement. We feel the ability to exercise is extremely important and allows these bulls to be athletic. Our fall bulls this year are extremely exciting. Between Iconic, Baldridge Grindstone, Iconic, Battalion, The Rock and Believer; these bulls can really cover cows and add growth. These bulls will add growth and carcass. We have a balance of Balancer and SimAngus bulls in the offering. These bulls are out of a lot of our good proven and young angus cows. These sons will help provide growth, fleshing ability, and fertility without sacrificing look. The spring heifer pairs being offered are extremely nice. We bought 120 customer heifers out of JFA bulls or bred to JFA bulls. These heifers were asked to calve on their own in February 2025. We rarely assist these heifers unless the calf is backwards or has a leg back. We will sort down to 50 of the very best spring pairs to offer for sale. Having the sale at Flint Hills Stockyards in St. Marys, KS has turned out to be very beneficial. We feel running the bulls through in a live format is a way to be unique in how we sell bulls. I want the customer to be able to evaluate and analyze the bulls attitude in the ring while he is being sold. We know a few bulls might get worked up during the sale, we can’t forget these are bulls and anything is possible, but we want to be able to show the buyer the quality of bulls. Owning Flint Hills Stockyards makes for a great opportunity to market Jones Family Genetics at the sale barn for our customers. Thank you for taking the time to look through the catalog and study the bulls. We would love to show the cattle to anyone interested. Please contact Spencer or Cassie to discuss how our operations could help yours. THANK YOU, Spencer, Cassie, Ty, Hayden, and Hadley Jones
