or 270 of $500.00 each, or 1,350 of $100.00 each, will be sufficient to carry forward the work of Biota at full tide. In order to visualize the situation and give participants a group soli darity, it is proposed that coordi nated action be taken under the leadership of the Holy Spirit. Such organization, if effective, will be a voluntary enlistment of the friends of the Bible Institute, including the trustees, faculty and business staff, together with the members of the ac tive student body and alumni, as well as fundamental churches who will participate, and also the many friends who will respond to our ap peal in the United States and many other lands. God is our Leader and Deliverer in this crisis. Purpose The purpose of this organization is to devise plans to secure by col lection, donation, bequests and sub sidy, funds for securing the continu ation of the work of this Institute in order to provide FR EE CHRIS TIAN TRA IN ING IN T H E UN ITED STA TE S AND CHINA FOR ALL QUALIFIED APPLI CANTS. Proposed Methods to be Employed M ail C ampaign : The budget ap peal may be intensively carried out by a direct mail campaign to all friends and donors of the Institute as well as to the fundamental churches of the country, who may be urged to include the Institute within their budgets. C hurch of the O pen D oor : The excellent participation of the Church of the Open Door in help ing to raise and pay the mortgage in debtedness has shown the possibility

of cooperation with this church, and it is urged that arrangements be made for extending this cooperation, both through Dr. Talbot’s radio ad dresses and the general services of the church. All other fundamental churches in the country should be asked to participate by putting on a Biola meeting. National Organization of Field Secretaries Through T he K ing ’ s B usiness , an appeal can be made for an organi zation of field secretaries, first on a voluntary basis and later for small expenses or small emoluments, these representatives to report the names of: 1. Desirable student prospects: 2. People of means who might remember the Institute in their wills; 3. Missionary-minded donors, and 4. Donors interested in Bible In stitute work. From this staff a very effective field department can be soon devel oped in all parts of the nation, and a series of one-day or one-week Bible conferences organized at convenient points where the doctrines of the In stitute can be effectively presented, and by the aid of locally resident representatives the returns for the Institute garnered. Please bear in mind that any representative ap pointed by the Bible Institute will possess proper credentials. Appeals for wills may be made through the Church of the Open Door and T he K ing ’ s B usiness , and a committee of the Board will be ap pointed to handle all property or real estate that may come into the hands of the Institute by bequests and gifts.

Donation Information The income from the two Institute pledge accounts for the past seven- month period as furnished by our accounting department shows the following result: Donations January 1, 1938, to July 31, 1938 Honor Roll Pledge Payments ......................$ 3,589.25 Go Forward Pledge Payments....... 18,535.64 Total Pledge Payments............ $22,124.89 It will, therefore, be seen that if these incomes continue on the same basis for the next year, $37,928.40 of our budget is already provided for, leaving approximately $135,000.00 to be raised. The above plan is suggested in the hope that our friends will dis cuss it freely with Institute leaders. There are already sufficient meth ods for participating in the Insti tute’s work. No new one need be devised. Our H onor R oll C er tificates are awarded to all donors of sums less ahan $33.00; the Go F orward P lan is provided for don ors of sums in excess of $33.00. Of course cash donations are always urgently needed. Insured annuities and other forms of giving will be fully explained up on receipt of a letter addressed to our Business Manager. The important thing is that there should be brought widespread ac tion at this crucial moment in order that no hindrance may be placed in, the way of the auspicious beginning: which has now been made.
