and He has given one day in each week in which His people are to rest, too. W e are not only to rest, but we are also to worship God on that day. By worshiping, we keep the day holy. When our Lord Jesus Christ was here on earth, we find that He spent the day in just that way. Many times we read in the Bible that Jesus was in the synagogue on the Sabbath. Sometimes He was listening, sometimes He was teaching, but always He was worshiping God there. You remember that by the time Jesus Christ came to earth, there were many Jew ish teachers who had added a great many laws to the ones which God had given to the people. The leaders and the people were not truly worshiping God— they were worshiping the laws that they made. So when Jesus did an act of kindness by heal ing a sick woman on the Sabbath day, these complainers said that the healing really was “work” that Jesus had done, and that He was disobeying God’s law about working on the Sabbath. God wants us always to be kind and helpful and thoughtful of others, not only on His spe cial day, but every day as well. Since the Lord Jesus Christ rose from the dead, His people keep that day—the first day of the week—father than the sev-j enth day which was the Jewish Sabbath. Don't you think it is a good thing that we Christians should be reminded every week of our lives that the Lord Jesús died to save us, and that He lives to keep us? The Lord’s Day helps Us to remember. O bjects: A banana and a knife. : (Pré-, pare the banana by inserting a threaded needle’ under the'' skin at one of the ridges and passing it between the skin and the core, bringing the needle out at the next ridge. Use a thread Uong enough so that the knot end will be, left projecting two or three inches from the first hole. In sert the needle in the opening it made in coming out, and continue to the next ridge and around the banana in this manner, un- Object Lesson A S unday B anana Ecclesiastes 2:1 I said in mine heart, Go to now, I will prove thee with mirth; therefore enjoy pleasure: and, behold, this also is vanity. # 2 I said of laughter, It is mad: and of mirth, What doeth it? 3 I sought in mine heart to give myself unto wine, yet acquainting mine heart with wisdom; and to lay hold on folly, till I might see what was that good for the sons of men, which they should do under the heaven all the days of their life. 10 And whatsoever mine eyes desired I kept not from them, I withheld not my heart from any joy; for my heart rejoiced in all my labor: and this was my portion of all my labor. 11 Then I looked on all the works that my hands had wrought, and on the labor that I had labored to do: and, behold, all was vanity and vexation of spirit, and there was no profit under the sun. Romans 6:17 But God be thanked, that ye were the servants of sin, but ye have obeyed from the heart that form of doctrine which was delivered you. 18 Being then made free from sin, ye became the servants of righteousness. 19 I speak after the manner of men because of the infirmity of your flesh: for as ye have yielded your members servants to uncleanness and to iniquity unto iniquity; even so now yield your members servants to righteousness unto holiness. 20 For when ye were the servants of sin, ye were free from righteousness.

til the circle is complete and the starting place is reached. Then pull on both ends of the thread which come out the same hole, and the core of the banana will be cut. Make this circle six times at regular inter vals, and thus cut the banana into seven pieces before the: skin is removed.) Lesson : W e are to have a Sunday ba nana this morning. I have never seen the insijde of this banana, but I know that it is diffèrent from those you usually see. When God created the world, He di vided each week into seven days, just as if I should take à knife and cut the banana into seven pieces. (Place the knife near the banana in six places as if you intended to cut it, but do not let it touch the banana.) W e shall need to peel this banana to see how it is different. Look! It falls into seven pieces! Remember that when God created the world, He made each week seven days long. He gave man six days in which to work, and He reserved the seventh for rest and worship. I am going to give each of you six boys on the front row a piece of this banana. There is just one left for me. You may eat the pieces I gave you. Did you enjoy them? You boys may each come and cut off à- piece of mine and eat it. And now there is practically none left for me. This is often the way people treat God with regard to the days of the week. He gives them six days in which to do for themselves the things that are necessary; and when Sun day comes, they take a part, and often the whole, of His day for pleasure or for work. W e should remember that one day belongs to God. (Substitute some other fruit, using seven pieces, if bananas are not available.) 21 What fruit had ye then in those things whereof ye are now ashamed? for the end of those things is death. 22 But now being made free from sin, and become servants to God, ye have your fruit unto holiness, and the end everlasting life. 23 For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord. 14:21 It is good neither to eat flesh, nor to drink wine, nor any thing whereby thy brother stumbleth, or is offended, or is made weak.
