What does the College’s ‘Apprenticeship Expert’ status mean?
The Department for Education (DfE) has selected Truro and Penwith College as Cornwall’s only Expert Apprenticeship Provider, and we are one of only five Colleges to achieve this status in the UK. Our selection confirms we are delivering the very best apprenticeships in Cornwall. To achieve expert status the College had to demonstrate excellence across a strict range of criteria including top learner achievement rates, an exceptional rating for employer feedback and strong financial health.
We are so incredibly proud to have achieved a Silver rating in the 2023 Teaching Excellence Framework (TEF) which highlighted the University Centre’s inspirational teaching, research and innovative practices of our staff. Our work with Cornwall’s employers shone through as our curriculum was recognised as “aligning with local skills needs” and being “informed by engagement in a matrix of networks” and the student experience in general was judged to be of a “very high quality”. Why has the University Centre Truro & Penwith been awarded TEF Silver?
What is the £2.5 million skills boost for Cornwall?
The £2.5 million is an investment Cornwall has received from the Department for Education’s Local Skills Improvement Fund (LSIF) to help transform skills training in Cornwall to align with the needs identified by local employers in the Local Skills Improvement Plan.
