What tasks might I do? Your main tasks would be:
• Playing with children and supporting their play • Preparing food and feeding babies, supervising children at mealtimes • Planning and organising games and other activities in and outdoors and supervising children’s play • Supporting children’s independence, self-confidence and social interaction • Reading stories and organising games to help develop language and number skills • Assessing the development of children and babies and maintaining records • Safeguarding children and ensuring excellent health and safety • Communication and supporting parents with their child’s development and well-being • Preparing children for school
You might prefer working for yourself as a self- employed registered childminder. Childminders provide home-from-home day care of children within a domestic home setting, and supervise and participate in their play, educational and other activities.
