Harold Simmons Park is going to make Dallas a greener and healthier place to live.

ENVIRONMENTAL PLANTINGS (22-ACRE WEST OVERLOOK)

Over 1,600 new trees to be planted

Over 4,000 new bushes and shrubs

Over 200,000 new groundcovers, perennials, and bulbs

Tree Canopy and Environmental Impact: The park will clean the air, providing cool shade, and creating a more comfortable, cooler space for Dallas.

T r i n i t y River Valley

CO2 Reduction: The park will prevent 9 million pound s of CO2 from entering the air; equal to taking 850 cars off the road--a cost savings of over $369,000.

OVERLOOK LAWN

LAND BRIDGE

Energy Savings: The park will save as much electricity as 540 homes use in a year-- a cost savings of $826,000

SKATE & BIKE PARK

Air Quality Improvement: The park will act like giant filters, removing thousands of pounds of harmful gases and particles from the air.

Commerce Street Bridge

Ozone Improvement: The park will remove as much ozone as 12,000 cars would produce in a year-- over 24,575 lbs.

Nitrogen Dioxide Improvement: 3,654 lbs removed --equivalent to what 180,000 gas-powered lawnmowers produce in a year.

Sulfur Dioxide Improvement: 16,553 lbs removed --same amount emitted by 200 coal-fired smokestacks in a single day.

Particulate Matter Improvement: The park will filter out as much fine dust (PM2.5) as produced by driving about 120 diesel trucks for a year-- 1,644 lbs.
