Mark has been married to the sculptor Arlene Shechet for almost 40 years, with whom he has two children, both now in their 30s. He was wondering if anyone would remember this, but he often thinks back to the 3rd or 4th form “Tuli Kupferberg Fan Club” that classmate Daniel Bittker initiated. The late Tuli Kupferberg was one of the founding members of a New York City rock band called The Fugs. The co-founder of The Fugs, the poet Ed Sanders, lives close by in Woodstock, New York, and remains an active, if aging, presence in the local community. Strange how certain threads run through life. Frank Castiglione retired in October 2022 from his dermatology practice in Hamden, Connecticut. As is his right, he did not ask me for my okay. I started going to his dad, Dr. Frank Castiglione, Sr., in 1966, and continued with Frank to this day. I can’t even begin to imagine how many members of the Hopkins extended family went to Frank and his dad! 1972 HGS AND DPH Richard Hehre richardhehre@gmail.com 1973 50th Reunion, June 2–3, 2023 Michael P. Finnegan mfinnegan218@gmail.com We are getting ready for our 50th reunion, and eight of our classmates have been working with the Hopkins School liaison, Charles Rich. I am one of the people working on planning this event. We know that not everyone can make it to Hopkins, but we do ask that you try to visit what is now a very different school than the one we left behind 50 years ago. The reunion is on June 2 and 3, and we are looking for ideas of what we can do on Friday, because Saturday is set up to be an all-day affair on campus. Your suggestions are more than welcome. Over the next few months, you will be getting a call from the members of the committee. I am in Florida and I know other members are in other states and area codes. I am looking forward to hearing from you and hopefully seeing you at the

I’m also getting back to wrestling with the Bach Suites for Cello —over 50 years into these and I change fingerings and bowing every day.” Ars longa , as they say. 1974 Anne Sommer anne.sommer.editor@gmail.com As most of you know, Cathy Sobin Szanto died on August 23. Her obituary can be found here: www. munsonloveterefuneralhome.com/obituary/ Catherine-Szanto. Here are some of the comments I received from you about Cathy: “That is so sad. She had a beautiful smile and sparkling eyes.” “I am so sorry to hear of Cathy’s passing. I remember her fondly from our days at Hopkins.” “So sad. I remember Cathy well. She was one of the nicest and most considerate people in our class.” “How very sad. She was a very lovely person.” In other news, Margy Campbell Lamere writes: “I’m thrilled to have a third grandson, Jack Campbell Lamere, born on October 21. I’m in my 31st year of teaching

We are a notable and historic bunch for HGS and DPH to celebrate, and I hope many old friends will consider attending the reunion. If only one word could be used to describe you today, what would it be? For me, ‘road warrior’ [even if that’s two words] best describes my knapsack lifestyle. Important highlights over the past 50 years include two adult kids, one delightful grand- daughter, knitting with my eyes closed, and hiking around the world, with a recent trip along the Wild Atlantic Way and Ring of Kerry, Ireland. As we get ready to celebrate our younger selves, I would love to reconnect with DPH friends and HGS classmates. I promise a quick email to kbroadwarrior@yahoo.com will generate an immediate reply.” Nestor Cybriwsky wrote, “As for events closer to home (being Manhasset, New York), I retired from 33 years in the emerging markets bond trading business in July 2020. My timing could not have been better, as bond markets tanked soon thereafter and everyone in the industry is miserable,
