WORKING HOURS
OVERTIME
Working on an island that bares hospitality as its soul identity, requires determination and flexibility. Host may be required to work shifts that may be scheduled during day or night including weekends, public holidays and special events based upon the operational needs and requirements. The Management has full and complete discretion in determining the host’s normal working hours. i. Hosts are required to work 6 days a week and the accumulated working hours shall not exceed 48 (forty eight) hours per work week. This 48 working hours will not include, time taken for rest, meals, tea, prayer and other breaks will not be included in the calculation of the working hours. ii. Due to the nature of our business, your working hoursmay vary. Overtime work required from time to time to meet operational needs and requirements in accordance with “Overtime” clause below, will not be included in the calculation of normal working hours iii. Hosts working on shift basis will be advised of the work times and shifts, based on a rotating roster as determined by the relevant supervisor or unit manager. The Resort operates on 24 hours basis and operational team members are required to work by a duty roster which may include split shifts.
Depending on the operational needs and requirements, and subject always to Company policy as determined by the Management, the host may be required to work beyond his normal working hours, for which the host will be remunerated with overtime pay i. Overtime work is not permitted except upon written authorization from the host’s immediate superior for each occasion, in the form required by the employer
ii. Overtime work shall not exceed 2 hours per day, any excess needs to be authorized by your Head of Department
iii. Where breaks are granted pursuant to clause 9 during the overtime work, time taken for such breaks will not be included in the overtime working hours.
iv. The method of calculating the overtime pay/rate per hour shall be in accordance with the prevailing Employment Act.
v. Management and some particular group of Host will not be eligible for overtime payment. The eligibility information will be in stated in your Employment Contract.
