PUBLIC HOLIDAY PAY
ATTENDANCE
Public holidays are specified in Maldivian Employment Act and will be displayed on the Host Notice Board on a yearly basis. If you work on the Public Holiday, Public Holiday payment will be paid as per Maldivian Employment Act. If you are required to work on a Friday, you shall be paid 1 ½ times your hourly wage for both the normal hours of work and overtime.
Your timely presence for duty, directly impacts service and colleagues in our resort. The Resort expects that every Host will be regular and punctual in attendance. This means being ready to work at their starting time each day. Absenteeism and tardiness places a burden on other Host and on the operations. Should undue tardiness become apparent, disciplinary action may be required. If there comes a time when you see that you will need to work lesser hours due to health reasons, during that time notify your Supervisor immediately. Each request will be considered separately, in light of the Hosts’ needs and the needs of the operations. If you cannot come to work you should contact your immediate superior as soon as possible before the start of the duty time. If you are absent for more than one day, you will report to your immediate superior each day unless other arrangements are made. You should see the Resort doctor and produce a medical certificate (if absence is more than a day). If you are absent for 3 consecutive days and fail to inform your immediate superior, of the reasons thereof, the Resort will consider that you have voluntarily resigned.
ACCUMULATION (Collecting Off)
It is important that you take one rest day per week for rejuvenation as per Employment Act. The weekly day off shall be scheduled by the Department Head or Supervisor according to the workload. In such case the day off can be collected and a maximum of six (6) day off can be accumulated. Hosts are required to take at least 1 off day in each work month and not continue working for more than 21 days without a day off. Accumulated Day Off will expire in 4 months from the date it was accumulated if unused. Accumulating more than 6 days at any given time is not allowed. The accumulation can only be done if there is a business need and if the manager has requested. Voluntary request by the host to work during day off will not be permitted.
