DRUGS & SUBSTANCE ABUSE
Hosts’ shall also understand that their behavior may cause suspicion with respect to any potential misuse of either alcohol or drugs. Where management or the immediate superior has reasonable cause to suspect that any Hosts may be under the influence of alcohol or drugs, the Hosts may be required, as a condition of continued employment, to undertake an appropriate test. If I test positive, this will be treated as gross breach of conduct and the appropriate steps will be taken for dismissal in accordance with the Disciplinary Procedures.
The resort aims for a substance free environment. The resort firmly believes that it is in the interests of our guests, our Hosts and the image of the resort to take all reasonable and legally required steps to ensure that the workplace is maintained as an environment in which use of illegal drugs is controlled and eliminated. A drug will be considered an “illegal drug” if its use is prohibited or restricted by law. The term includes prescription drugs not legally obtained and prescription drugs not being used for prescribed purposes. A “legal” drug includes prescribed drugs and over the counter drugs which have been obtained legally and are used for the purpose for which they were prescribed or manufactured, in the manner in which they are to be consumed. No Host may use, possess, transfer, distribute, manufacture, or sell drugs while on the resort property, whether that is on or off duty. The law of the Maldives will govern any breach. If a Host improperly uses or possesses the drug the Hosts will be handed to the appropriate government authorities. The resort is following a drug free resort program initiated by the appropriate government authorities therefore Human Resources will possess the authority randomly select names among the Hosts to be drug tested per month. Any selected Hosts who deny to take the drug test, a valid documentation verified by a recognized medical facility must presented for refusing undergoing the drug test.
ALCOHOL
In respect of religious customs, no alcohol can be sold or given to any Muslim Hosts of the Muslim faith. In addition all Hosts are not permitted to consume or possess alcoholic beverages in quarters shared with Hosts of the Muslim faith. Severe sanctions, including the possibility of suspension or dismissal in accordance with the Disciplinary Procedures, are imposed upon Hosts who serve alcohol for Hosts of the Muslim faith in their rooms or elsewhere in the resort. Persons found in a room shared with Hosts of the Muslim faith where alcohol is present and/or being consumed is subject to disciplinary action whether or not they were drinking, Hosts are responsible for their behavior while in the company of their guests. No Host may report for work, go on duty or remain on duty or on an on call status, while under the influence of or impaired by alcohol.
