Buying and selling information

Online

Opening times

How to find your way in the online catalogue. To view the catalogue online, click “auctions” and select the right catalogue. There are various categories, “veilingrubrieken”, to choose from. Select a category from the menu “veilingrubrieken” on the right side and click on. The category will come up with a list of lot numbers, a photo which can be enlarged by clicking on the photo itself, and a description of the item plus an estimated price. You will need to register first by completing the registration form online and sending the completed form to us by email. You can then log on to leave your bid. Online you can bid live during the auction or you can leave a commission bid in advance.

The Venduehuis is open from Monday up to and including Friday from 9.30 AM to 4.30 PM. During viewing days the opening times as stated above may differ. For up-to-date opening times, please visit the website. The Venduehuis is closed on National and Public Holidays.

Price estimates and descriptions

In our catalogue we list the expected proceeds of each lot to indicate sales prices. We must emphasise this is an estimate; the hammer price may turn out higher but also lower than estimated. We do our utmost to provide accurate estimations, but please consider them educated opinions rather than absolute facts.

Auction proceedings

Condition of items

The auction room opens 15 minutes preceding the start of the auction. In general, around 80 lots are auctioned per hour. However, as we cannot guarantee this, please allow a wide margin.

Any flaws and restorations of the lots are not systematically listed. You are expected to assess the condition of the lots during our viewing days. Should you wish to receive additional information about a specific lot, please contact us to request a report of its condition. Please keep in mind photos in our catalogue and on our website may not always be true to life.

Payment

The auctioned goods including the commission should be paid for directly following the end of the Auction by cash or debit card. You can immediately take your items with you or you can pick them up in the same week on work days between 9.30 am and 4.30 pm. If your bid was in writing or by telephone or Internet, you will automatically receive an invoice. After payment, your goods can be collected.

Bidding

Four ways to bid: in person, written, online or by telephone.

Written

144

If you are unable to personally present, you can submit a written bid. Send us an email with the precise lot number you are interested in, name the maximum amount to pay and give your full name, address with postal code and telephone number. You can also complete the Commission Form, and return by email or hand in. The Venduehuis will try and buy your lot at the most advantageous price. There are no additional costs for this service. Your email or commission form should be in our possession 24 hours prior to the commencement of the auction. Please do not forget the commission. Your maximum price is the same as your maximum price if you put your hand up in the auction room; the cost of sale is added to the hammer price.

Collecting purchased items

Bought items will be held for you free of charge for 5 working days after the last auction day. You can collect your purchase(s) at the collection desk after proof of payment, on work days between 9.30 AM and 4.30 PM. After 5 days we will have to charge you warehouse costs at €2.50 per lot per day. We advise you to bring your own packing material for your purchases.

Costs and terms and conditions

Within 5 working days after the last auction date. You can pay cash, debit card and by credit card. Keep in mind that for most debit cards there is a maximum limit of €2,500 per day. Please check this with your own bank. For costs as well as terms and conditions, please visit the website.

Telephone

There is another way to put in an offer and that is by telephoning during the actual Auction. This only applies to lots with an estimate of more than €500. If you wish to be called by one of our Staff during the Auction, please let us know in writing 24 hours prior to the Auction. Once again, we do not charge for this service and we assure you we will endeavour to put in the lowest possible bid.
