General Information
Breeding Soundness Evaluations Dr. Faith Chamlee (706-783-8128) has done a stringent BSE (Breeding Soundness Evaluation) on every Ge- netic Partner bull in this sale. Dr. Steve Schultz (979- 218-8680) has done a stringent BSE on other bulls from Alabama, Louisiana and Texas. The bulls from Florida passed individual BSEs as well. These BSEs include an examination for physical soundness, scrotal integrity, and reproductive soundness. Also, each bull has passed a thorough evaluation for semen count, motilityand qual- ity. All Twos and Coming Twos have been Trich tested. Every bull will sell with 100% possession and natural service rights going to the buyer of said bull. The retained breeding rights or semen rights will only be important if given bull is taken for semen collection and ultimately semen is marketed from noted bull. In this case the retained ownership will have the rights to the proportionate share of semen and marketing rights. Each party will pay their proportionate share of collection and marketing costs. Genetic Conditions Relative to genetic disorders, every animal in this sale has a notation in their respective data box as either “Free” or noted with a carrier condition prefix (DDC). Those noted as “Free” are either tested free or consid- ered free due to their free sires and dams. Those noted with a “C” in their genetic prefix are carriers only of a non-lethal recessive condition. Those noted with “PC” in their genetic prefix are potential carriers and waiting for completion of DNA testing. If original owner of bull would like semen and the buyer prefers not to exercise collection and marketing rights then the initial owner of bull can make arrangements for pick up (and return) of bull for semen collection at a time convenient to the new owner of bull and when bull is not being used for natural service breeding.

calved in the United States which is down 1% from the 2023 inventory report. The United States calf crop is estimated down 1% from last year and cattle on feed as of August 1, 2025 was 2% below 2024 levels for same reporting period! Reports also noted a slight increase in percentage of heifers on feed in mid- 2025, suggesting the industry is holding back fewer heifers for rebuilding the national cow herd equating to a slower inventory increase for calves produced for the foreseeable future. Translation, our cow/calf producers are getting paid for their product at highly profitable levels, at record levels, and will continue to reap the rewards of these market conditions in the beef industry. Forecast indicates that feeder cattle prices will continue to be driven by tight supplies, continued demand for quality beef, and has been suggested the Mexican border will remain closed to cattle imports for potentially two or more years! Those cattlemen raising high quality calves with added performance, ability to gain, go big in the yards, feed efficiently, and attract packer attention will continue to fuel this value run, and will always own a spot in the premium market, regardless of market conditions! What’s a Bull Worth (From Dr. Mark Johnson, Extension Beef Specialist, Oklahoma State University) According to the January 2025 Oklahoma Market Report: 524 lb. weaned steer calves (Large 1) are worth about $3.50/lb. for a value of $1834/head. If my future marketing plan is to sell weaned steers, $1834 x 5 = $9170 is the answer. 912 lb. yearling steer (Large 1) are worth about $2.53/lb. for a value of about $2300/head. If my future marketing plan is to sell yearling steers, $2300 x 5 = $11,500 is the answer. 1500 lb. finished beef steers are worth $2.00/lb. for a value of $3000/head. If my future marketing plan is to retain ownership selling on live weight basis, $3000 x 5 = $15,000 is the answer. So, in this current market a good bull is worth somewhere between $9000 and $15,000 to a commercial cow/calf operation. This was reported by the highly acclaimed Beef Cattle Specialist Dr. Mark Johnson AND taken from January Market Reports. We do not wish to reinterpret Dr. Johnson’s article, but we all know the value of each segment reported above is at minimum 20% higher currently compared to January. We do not know what The Stockman’s Kind Sale Bulls will bring this year. These values paid are up to each of you to determine your budgets and needs. However, it is simple to take the value of your calves when sold and multiply this by five (X 5). These numbers should keep you in the ballpark in today’s market conditions.
The Stockman’s Kind Welcome to the Inaugural Stockman’s Kind Bull Sale at Blackwater Cattle Company. A brief background is in order for the formation of our Stockman’s Kind Partnership. This marketing and genetic partnership was initially formed in the corner of the sale arena at Mound Creek Ranch with a group of like-minded breeders interested in expanding market area while making genetic strides with long-term profit in mind for their stock bull buying customers. Those sitting over in the corner that afternoon represented the quality programs from Blackwater Ranch, Grassy Lake Cattle Company, Hartness Brangus, Mound Creek Ranch, Riverbend Farms, and Vanna Farms. The seeds were planted, our group became a consolidated team, and the Inaugural Stockman’s Kind Bull Sale is set to deliver. Our group must thank Mike and Penny Coggins for allowing us the use of their well-known facility to hold our initial bull sale. Blackwater Cattle Company developed an incredible reputation for nearly 20 years in the registered seedstock part of the beef industry and became “the” place in the Southeast to purchase quality Brangus and Ultrablack genetics. Over time thousands of bulls successfully sold through the Blackwater sale ring into production programs spread throughout our great country. Our group felt there was a gap in this part of the country in providing genomically superior, marker validated stock bulls suited to the current beef industry demands. As well each program understood the impact of making sound, fertile, forage oriented, fundamentally fault-free, profit oriented stock bulls with selection pressures for economically relevant traits for their downstream end users. In the past each of us played some role at Blackwater either as partner, genetic guide, bull sale cooperator, or purchaser of quality Blackwater genetics. As one grazes through this sale catalog you find the BWCC prefix spread through many of these herd sire prospects and stock bulls. It is our intent to bring back the same outstanding reputation, genetic quality, traditions and integrity this esteemed place built over time through the dedicated efforts from the original Blackwater team. We know there are at least 97% of these bulls tracing to BWCC prefix cattle or donors that called BWCC home! We trust each of you will look forward to joining us on October 30 to renew former friendships, see past acquaintances, meet new customers, and be part of rekindling the traditions established two decades ago when Blackwater Cattle Company initially entered the registered seedstock business. The National Cattle Inventory Report July 25, 2025 National Cattle Inventory provided an expected outstanding outlook for those in the cow/calf segment of our beef industry. There are 38.1 million total cows and heifers that have

Partners
Genetic Partners Founded in 2022, Genetic Partners is the result of a shared vision between three like-minded cattlemen: David Chadwick, Steve Hartness, and Lee McGarity. What began as a friendship rooted in a passion for cattle has grown into a partnership with our clear purpose of tapping into the very best genetics the Brangus breed has to offer. Our simple goal is to build a program based on elite, breed-leading genetics that produce cattle with performance, consistency, and long-term value. Each decision we make is grounded in integrity, backed by data, and guided by a deep respect for the future of the Brangus breed. At Genetic Partners, we are not just raising cattle but building something to last. We are proud to be part of this sale and invite you to evaluate our offering. We believe you’ll see the difference that purpose-driven breeding can make. Hartness Brangus, Steve & Carol Ann Hartness, 170 Heritage Rd S, Limestone, TN 37681 (423-426-4028) Located in the Upper East Tennessee region, we purchased our first registered Brangus cattle in 2019 with a clear vision. We knew our program would never be the largest so our objectives would center around developing the best genetics the breed has to offer.
Since then, we’ve remained committed to that goal by investing in breed-changing donor females and utilizing top-tier bulls to elevate our program. Our focus is on producing cattle that bring long-term value to both commercial and registered operations through proven performance, structural soundness, and genetic excellence.
The bulls we make and offer for sale are representative of the careful selection and breeding decisions behind our program. We appreciate your interest and support and now are confident these genetics will have a positive impact on any herd. Riverbend Farms, David & Julie Chadwick, 3155 Steele Station Rd., Rainbow City, AL 35906 (256-490-8935) Founded in 2020, and located in Selma, Alabama, Riverbend Farms was built on the simple but powerful principle of quality over quantity. In an industry where numbers often take the spotlight, we’ve chosen the path that emphasizes thoughtful selection, sound genetics, and lasting impact.
At Riverbend Farms, our focus is on producing cattle that are functional, fertile, and built to perform in real-world conditions. Every breeding decision is made with purpose, and every animal in our program reflects our commitment to quality, consistency, and integrity. Even though our breeding program is only five years down the road we are deeply rooted in hard work, strong values, and a clear vision for the future. As we continue to grow, our goal remains the same. We will produce cattle that deliver unmatched performance in the pasture and as well as each facet of the industry down line. Vanna Farms, Lee & Angela McGarity, 312 Freedom Church Rd., Royston, GA 30662 (706-498-7695)
Vanna Farms, located in Royston, Georgia and founded in 2008, is a family-owned operation built on integrity, hard work, and a passion for producing high-quality cattle. Our focus is on developing sound, functional, and performance-driven genetics that stand the test of time. We are committed to raising quality Brangus cattle with the goal of establishing a strong, long-term presence in the industry. With guidance and inspiration from mentors such as Tracy Holbert and Eddie Blazek, we’ve built our program on a foundation of proven genetics and innovative breeding strategies.
We have prioritized balanced trait selection emphasizing fertility, structural soundness, docility, and carcass quality. We continually invest in proven genetics to ensure our cattle meet the needs of forward-thinking cattle producers. At Vanna Farms we believe quality never goes out of style. We’re proud the stock bulls we raise reflects the depth and direction of our program. Whether you’re building a herd or strengthening one, we invite you to look at what Vanna Farms has to offer.

Partners Blackwater Ranch, Tracy & Cindy Holbert, 4706 Goehmann Ln,. Fredericksburg, TX 78624 (979-255-4357) Tracy and Cindy Holbert have been in the Brangus business together for 35 years, and Tracy before that since 1981 when he joined the International Brangus Breeders Association post graduate school. Tracy and Cindy have spent their entire adult lives in Brangus and have built a continued reputation for their work ethic and long-time knowledge of Brangus cattle and fellow breeders of Brangus cattle.
Tracy met Mike Coggins in 2003 and from that moment they become fast friends and then business partners in the registered seedstock Brangus program at Blackwater Cattle Company near Lake Park, Georgia. During their years working together they grew Blackwater Cattle Company into one of the Top 100 Seedstock programs in the United States annually marketing over 300 Brangus and Hereford bulls. The registered program sold to ACE in 2021 and today Tracy and Cindy continue to operate as Blackwater Ranch in Fredericksburg, Texas.
Now, Blackwater Ranch carries on that same elite tradition of crafting outstanding Brangus and Ultrablack cattle through basically 100% embryo transfer production. The BWR genetics continue to be well documented for Tracy’s ability to build leading edge and highly demanded cattle with unparalleled rank values in antagonistic traits. Mound Creek Ranch, Eddie & Cindy Blazek, 12650 FM 579, Leona, TX 75850 (713-829-9908) Owned by Eddie and Cindy Blazek, and located near Leona, Texas, Mound Creek Ranch has been producing registered Brangus
genetics for nearly four decades and is the cornerstone program of the Brangus breed. Success is an understatement after taking the banner up decades ago to produce new Brangus genetics through the use foundation Brahman, Angus, and Certified cattle. Later, Mound Creek again raised the bar becoming the breed leader building the capstone of Ultrablack cattle in Brangus. Blending these two programs together has created a breed elite, genomically enhanced cowherd known for herd production and genetic value for the all-important downstream segments of the beef industry.
From their annual Production Sale held each March, Mound Creek holds breed records for bull sale averages, female sale averages, individual sale value for a single bull, and individual sale value for a single female. Mound Creek traces many longtime roots throughout the Southeast and all at Mound Creek look forward to renewing these friendships. Grassy Lake Cattle Co., Randy and Gina Malouf, 915 McCaleb Rd, Montgomery, TX 77316 (936-537-8454) Grassy Lake Cattle Company, owned by Randy and Gina Malouf, is dedicated to raising top- quality Brangus cattle built on a foundation of cutting edge, proven genetics. Randy pursued his lifelong dream of ranching in 2009 when they purchased their ranch on the Navasota River in south-central Texas. From the start, the focus at Grassy Lake has been on producing cattle with heat tolerance, fertility, growth, and carcass merit. Through extensive research into EPDs and performance data, Grassy Lake has built a herd with elite genetics and continues to strengthen the program by purchasing the best bulls and donor cows in Brangus. Now, Grassy Lake Cattle Company is home to the most elite herd sires in Brangus and offers bulls, females, embryos, and semen designed to elevate any Brangus or Ultrablack program. Genomic Giants
A Few Points of Importance •Our sale bulls have been raised in a forage environment, tested from weaning to yearling time on silage, and continued to be developed post yearling time to sale time on silage and/or grazing forage. •Every bull in the sale offering has passed a strict BSE that included an actual collection and evaluation of semen sample to include all fall born yearling bulls. •The stock bulls in this sale, representing five partner programs and four cooperator programs, are documented for superior genomically enhanced traits, to make economically relevant genetic directions, by blending antagonistic traits together at levels known to be difficult to achieve. •Percentile Ranks associated with GE-EPD values are the most important component of the entire database in this catalog. Trust these values as they offer the best comparison when ranking all animals in the Brangus breed! •Nearly 38% of the cattle in this sale rank in the best 35% of the entire national Brangus population for Calving Ease Direct and 43% of the sale cattle have an actual birthweight of 75 lbs. or less, and over 59% of the sale bulls have an actual birthweight of 79 lbs. or less. •Our industry sells cattle by the pound and the entire offering in this sale rank in the TOP 10% for Weaning Weight and Yearling Weight GE-EPDs when compared against the national Brangus genetic population. •Additionally, the packers pay for pounds, muscle, and marbling and these sale bulls rank against the national breed population in the TOP 10% for both Ribeye Area and IMF (Marbling) GE-EPD values! •Fertility IS the most economically important trait in the cattle industry. You will find our Fertility Indicator Values are outstanding when compared to the entire Brangus population! •Those blessings of fertility, calving ease, soundness, maternal value, udder quality, calf raising value, keeping ability, and temperament are the long-term genetic bonuses from our stock bulls! The entire sale offering ranks on average for Fertility and Herd Retention in the TOP 10% for Heifer Pregnancy; TOP 15% for Stayability, Breed Back and Number of Calves; AND TOP 15% for Total Maternal Value! •Keep in mind the excellent GE-EPD values for Weaning Weight, Yearling Weight, Ribeye Area, and IMF are antagonistic traits to the just above noted values for Fertility and Maternal Values! Each of our programs accomplishes more than can be described by blending antagonistic traits together at such an impressive level.
Genomic Data Will Fuel the Beef Industry Genomically enhanced Expected Progeny Differences (GE-EPDs) are the most accurate prediction of an animal’s genetic merit, combining traditional EPD calculations with molecular genetic data from DNA testing. By analyzing an animal’s DNA and comparing it against a reference population, GE-EPDs provide higher accuracy, especially for young, non-parent animals, allowing producers to make more informed decisions to accelerate genetic progress in their herds. By improving the accuracy of EPDs, GE-EPDs help mitigate the risk associated with selecting sires, dams, or young animals. Over time placing emphasis on GE-EPDs provides producers with more robust information for selecting superior animals therefore making more profitable and accurate breeding decisions. The Use of DNA Technology DNA technology, and its various forms of use in the beef industry, is here to stay, and we have embraced this technology for its positive and profitable impact. Feedlots are starting to use DNA technology and packers are exploring avenues to identify groups of cattle that “can or cannot” perform on the rail based on DNA technology. From correct pedigree verification, validating EPD values, to unlocking the science behind the composition of our two parent breeds, our industry will be better served by adding this pure form of black and white science in an industry that at one time was ruled by nothing but subjectivity. Factually, there are no programs with “true” Brangus which are defined as 3/8 Brahman and 5/8 Angus, or 37.5% Brahman and 62.5% Angus. This type of information is strictly a paper trail. Science tells us our national Brangus breed average is around 25% Brahman and 75% Angus. DNA combination from each parent is random and therefore at each mating it is impossible to “control” in a composite breed how much bos indicus vs bos taurus each offspring receives. Yes, on average, our REG cattle will have slightly higher percentage of Brahman DNA as compared to UB noted animals. However, within each group you will find wide swings of Brahman vs Angus compositions and designs. Stockmen generally know what kind of bull they prefer relative to frame size, design, measurements, amount of leather, etc. Closely study genomically enhanced EPD (GE-EPD) ranks, and place high emphasis on this information! Don’t hesitate to ask for assistance or recommendations from our team. BUY THE BULLS THAT FIT YOUR NEEDS and the LONG-TERM GOALS OF YOUR PROGRAMS. The profit driving information is available. Now trust the process.

Registration Number: Animals noted with “R” number are Registered Brangus. Those noted with a “UB” number are Ultra-Blacks, indicating they are a Brangus-Angus blend. Those noted as UB2 are second cross Ultrablacks. “AX” or “UX” recorded animals are appendix recorded cattle that have non-typical Brangus color pattern. Animals noted with “DNA” are correctly pedigreed yet waiting final validation for AI sire or possibly Donor Dams. These animals will ultimately have “R” or “UB” prefixes. Polled/Scurred/Horned: Denotes animals that are either smooth polled or have the presence of scurs or slick spots. Those noted as “scurs” typi- cally have had scurs removed post-weaning. Individual Performance Birth Weight (BW): Actual weight at birth, expressed in pounds. Scrotal Circumference (SC): Testicular circumference, measured in centimeters, and adjusted to 365 days of age. New EPDs/Index Heifer Pregnancy (HP): The probability that a female will have a calf as a two year old. Expressed as a percent with the higher number more desirable. Stayability (Stay): Measures the probability that a cow will still be in the herd at six years of age, with the higher number being more desirable. Breed Back (BB): A fertility indicator trait that expresses the likelihood for a female ability to become pregnant on an annual basis, or a sire’s ability to produce daughters with the same value. Number of Calves (NC): A fertility indicator trait that expresses the number of potential calves a female will have in her lifetime, or a sire’s ability to pro- duce daughters with a greater likelihood to have more calves in her lifetime. Terminal Index (Term): Evaluates a sire for use on mature cows with all offspring put on feed and sold in a terminal end point scenario. No replacement females are kept in the scenario. Expected Progeny Difference Expected Progeny Difference (EPD): The genetic predictor of how fu- ture progeny of each animal are expected to perform relative to the prog- eny of other animals listed in the breed database. EPD Accuracy: Since all sale animals in this catalog are non-parents, their accuracies are the lowest calculated by our national sire evaluation program. Every EPD reported is either current, interim or pedigree EPD. Calving Ease Direct (CED): is expressed as a difference in percentage of unassisted births, with a higher value indicating greater calving ease in first-calf heifers. It predicts the average difference in ease with which a sire’s calves will be born when he is bred to first-calf heifers.
Birth Weight (BW): Expressed in pounds, is a predictor of an animal’s abil- ity to transmit birth weight to progeny compared to that of other animals. Weaning Weight EPD (WW): Expressed in pounds, is a predictor of an animal’s ability to transmit weaning growth to its progeny. Yearling Weight EPD (YW): Expressed in pounds, is a predictor of an animal’s ability to transmit yearling growth to its progeny. Milk EPD (Milk): Predicts an animal’s genetic merit for milk and mothering ability as expressed in daughters compared to daughters of other animals. In other words, it is that part of a calf’s weaning weight attributed to milk. Total Maternal EPD (TM): Expressed in pounds, a genetic predictor of weaning weight by blending maternal milk and weaning weight value. Scrotal Circumference EPD (SC): Measured in centimenters at yearling time, predicts testicular size. Ribeye Area (REA): Expressed in square inches, is a predictor of trans- mitting ribeye size and overall muscle which is a key component in USDA yield grades. Intramuscular Fat (IMF): Expressed as a percentage, is a predictor of transmitting ability for marbling or intra-muscular fat correlating to USDA quality grade at harvest time. Percentile Ranks: The given EPD values are current to the printing of this cata- log. However, an EPD is meaningless without the knowledge of where that given EPD ranks in a breed population. The PERCENTILE RANKS are offered in combi- nation with the EPD or Index values and determine where EPD ranks in the na- tional Brangus database from our National Genetic Evaluation. A percentile rank of 10% indicates a trait in the Top 10% of the entire nations Brangus database. Potential Genetic Conditions Genetic Conditions: If a genetic condition is known to exist in any sale animal or the potential of a genetic condition exists, we will make note of this in the information line for that animal. All animals in the sale have been tested, are pedigree free of any known conditions or will be noted as a potential carrier while waiting for final testing. Genomically Enhanced EPD Values GE-EPD Values: Genomically enhanced Expected Progeny Differences (GE-EPDs) are a more accurate prediction of an animal’s genetic merit, combining traditional EPD calculations with molecular genetic data from DNA testing. By analyzing an animal’s DNA and comparing it against a ref- erence population, GE-EPDs provide higher accuracy, especially for young, non-parent animals, allowing producers to make more informed decisions to accelerate genetic progress in their herds.
