NOVEMBER 2025

Celebrating Gratitude With Our Bloomington Family CHOOSING THANKFULNESS

Gratitude can be tough to get to when you’re not in a great headspace. Believe me, just like everyone, I’ve had times where everything felt like it was stacking up against me or things just looked like they wouldn’t work out. I can still remember the early days of Anthony’s Lawn Care when trucks were breaking down left and right, or selling my brand new mower just to make it through the winter. I’ve learned that gratitude can get you through those hard times and make you love the good times even more. November is a time to focus on what we’re thankful for. With Thanksgiving and National Gratitude Month both right around the corner, I honestly have so much I’m grateful for. From my immediate family to my work family, our wonderful clients, and the opportunity that the community has given us here in Bloomington, I consider myself a very fortunate guy. Sometimes, it’s easy to feel the weight of the challenges life throws our way. I’ve found that when I force myself to think about what I’m

grateful for, it makes things go in the right direction. For me, it’s like going to the gym. You don’t always feel like it, but once you get there, it’s clear it’s good for you. Whether in the family or the business world, there are always opportunities to find creative solutions to problems. I work with a lot of other businesses, and it doesn’t matter if they’re 10 times bigger than mine or one-tenth the size; we all deal with similar troubleshooting. That’s where gratitude can come in again to counterbalance whatever you’re going through, so you can get into a growth mindset. I do gratitude journaling daily, writing down five things I’m grateful for. It’s a tool for moving out of a limited mindset that says this is just the way things are and there’s no changing it. You don’t have control over everything, but viewing things through a growth mindset can free you from being stuck in a problem. When you get down to it, a problem doesn’t have to be negative if you look at what you can gain from it. How can we turn the lemons into lemonade, and how can we make this work in our favor? Appreciating it all can propel you forward. Gratitude is worth sharing and allows me to give back. I love growing Anthony’s Lawn Care for our team members and their families because they’re my family, too, and I want to see them flourish. We all appreciate the community here in Bloomington for all their support, so during November, we donate 10% of our profits. We make sure our employees get a pie and a gift

card for Thanksgiving to show them how much they mean to us. And we always strive to go above and beyond for our customers. This year, and all years, I’m extremely grateful. I’m thankful for our clients, team members, and being in a community that cares. The people who trust us to take care of their yards are so understanding. It means the world to me that the community gives a second chance if we need it, because we always want everyone to have a fantastic experience. Some of you hired me in those early days when I just had a push mower and a minivan. I don’t know if it’s like that everywhere, but I do know the culture in Bloomington and the surrounding areas we service is incredibly accepting. I couldn’t ask for a better home. As we head into this season, I want to say thank you. I’m truly grateful for everyone reading this newsletter or welcoming the crew into your yard. Happy Thanksgiving from all of us. I hope you and your loved ones have full bellies and hearts full of gratitude.

Less Scrolling, More Strolling

The Seasonal Spruce-Up, Made Simple

MAKE YOUR LAWN SHINE BEFORE GUESTS ARRIVE

As the temperatures dip and daylight starts to dwindle sooner in the evenings, staying active often falls to the bottom of the priority list. It’s easy to settle into the routine of indoor comfort with more screens and less movement. However, carving out time for a daily walk, even in the chillier months, is a simple and effective way to stay physically and mentally sharp. THE CASE FOR A DAILY WALK FALL AND WINTER ARE NATURE’S UNDERRATED WORKOUT MONTHS. There’s something calming about a quiet sidewalk covered in fall leaves or a peaceful neighborhood dusted with frost. The colder seasons offer a refreshing and grounding change of scenery. A short walk outdoors allows you to unplug and take in the subtle beauty that’s easy to miss when you’re rushing from one indoor task to the next. THE SCIENCE OF SEASONAL MOVEMENT IS REAL. Cooler air does more than wake you up. It makes your body work harder to stay warm, thus increasing the calorie burn of even a casual stroll. That quick burst of movement in the cold can also boost circulation, improve energy levels, and clear mental fog, especially if you’ve been sitting at a desk for most of the day. CREATE A COZY ROUTINE YOU LOOK FORWARD TO. One of the best ways to stay consistent during these cooler months is to make your walk enjoyable. Layer up in comfortable gear, choose a playlist or podcast you love, and set a daily reminder to step outside. Whether it’s 10 minutes around the block or a long weekend loop, consistency matters more than intensity. MAKE IT SOCIAL, REWARDING, OR BOTH. If you aren’t feeling motivated solo, ask a friend or neighbor to join you a few times a week. If you prefer going alone, add a small reward: a stop for a warm drink, or the satisfaction of checking it off your daily goals list. These little incentives can make your walk something to look forward to.

As the holiday season arrives, that means family and friends will soon be knocking on your door. Nothing sets the festive tone like an attractive and well-maintained front yard, and thankfully, creating welcoming curb appeal doesn’t have to be complicated or interfere with your plans. From sprucing up your lawn to adding small decorative touches, there are easy yard upgrades you can make before your guests arrive and you get busy cooking the big feast.

SEASONAL SPRUCE-UP Keeping your yard neat will give the whole space a fresh and inviting feel without a lot of stress. Pull any visible weeds and rake up leaves, twigs, or other debris. Give the lawn one more mow a few days before your guests show up, so the grass looks cared for and visible mow lines have faded. This is a great opportunity to repair little things like fencing or add nice pavers or river rocks to create a walkway to your front door. FESTIVE FOLIAGE You can capture the spirit of the season by incorporating plants with pops of color and bringing some holiday decor outdoors. Create a winter planter with seasonal foliage and mix in some decorations like ribbons or lighting to make it truly stand out. You can place these near the front door or along pathways. Include some of the standards for this time of year, like potted poinsettias or even miniature Christmas trees. COZY CORNERS Your outdoor space can also be another gathering place for your guests. No matter how chilly it may be, you can create a warm seating area in your yard with chairs around a fire pit. Make sure to add gentle lighting, plenty of places for people to set their hot cocoa down, and cozy accents like warm blankets and pillows. If you don’t have a fire pit, you can craft a similar vibe with an outdoor heater and LED candles or lanterns. Give your yard the holiday glow-up it deserves without taking any quality time away from your family. At Anthony’s Lawn Care, we can take the stress out of the seasonal spruce-up so you have more time to enjoy all the tasty dishes, presents, and love the season is all about. Contact us today!

WINTER IS COMING, BUT YOUR GARDEN DOESN’T HAVE TO HIBERNATE WINTER PLANTS THAT PRACTICALLY CARE FOR THEMSELVES

Though the colder weather means shorter days and chilly nights, it doesn’t mean your garden has to go dormant just yet. With the right, low-maintenance plants, you can keep color, texture, and life in your yard

plant that goes dormant in summer and brightens up gardens in the winter. Once established, they require very little care.

SHIVER-PROOF SHRUBS As you select plants for your winter garden, it’s not just bright flowers that can bring a little sunshine to your space. There are many evergreen shrubs that can add dimension and texture to your landscaping without requiring you to toil away for hours. Two basic types of evergreen shrubs can thrive this time of year. Conifers like juniper produce needles, and broadleaf evergreens like boxwood produce attractive leaves. Many of these shrubs can be grown in containers and will retain their shape naturally. GROW INDOORS You have plentiful options of easy-to-care-for houseplants that can thrive in your living room, no matter what the weather is like outside. Many of these plants prefer the drier air and lower light in the cold months and require minimal watering. Plants like snake plants, peace lilies, money trees, and aloe vera can bring color to your home and can handle it if you forget to water them a few times. By choosing resistant perennials, hardy shrubs, and low-maintenance houseplants, you can continue to enjoy the joys of gardening even when the temperature drops. Contact Anthony’s Lawn Care if you’re ready to transform your outdoor space into a year-round haven.

this winter, without spending hours of work. From hardy perennials to cold- resistant native plants, resilient and easy varieties can provide seasonal interest and survive into the new year.

STURDY PERENNIALS Perennials are plants that last for

more than one season, and their roots can withstand the cold of winter. Though they often go dormant this time of year, there are some perennials that continue to provide colorful foliage even in the coldest months. Hellebores, often called Christmas or Lenten Roses, are a classic for winter, as they will still provide pretty blooms without the need for a lot of pruning. There’s also hardy Cyclamens, a stunning bulbous

Bungalows and Bliss Tropical Escapes to Savor

Whether you’re looking to book a tropical trip this winter or want to live vicariously through descriptions of dream destinations, this article is for you!

Of course, an extraordinary vacation doesn’t necessarily mean spending time in an expansive environment. Those looking to balance luxury with a low-key vibe should check out Gili Lankanfushi Maldives , a boutique resort that invites guests to lounge on a private water hammock as their worries wash away. FRESH PERKS IN FRENCH POLYNESIA Outdoor bungalows are also a big hit in Bora Bora. In addition to in-room pools, the Four Seasons Bora Bora resort offers guests a view of Mount Otemanu that all intrepid travelers should experience at least once. Over at the Westin Bora Bora , vacationers can take in the locale’s modern aesthetics while sipping cocktails at its swim-up bar. If you plan to travel with a large group, the two-story Presidential Suites and overwater villas at the Conrad Bora Bora Nui are outstanding options. Not surprisingly, Bora Bora isn’t the only place to visit in French Polynesia. Although the Hilton Moorea Lagoon Resort and Spa tends to book up quickly due to its smaller size, it’s worth trying to get a room for this vacation spot’s famous snorkeling sites alone.

From overwater bungalows to swim-up bars, these resorts redefine relaxation in some of the world’s most glamorous getaways.

A SPECTACULAR SOUTH ASIAN SOJOURN If you want to add flavor to your wintertime festivities with an international jaunt, the Maldives, just southwest of India, is home to some of the world’s most renowned resorts. Celebrated for its spacious rooms, private pools, and “floating breakfasts,” The Ritz-Carlton Maldives, Fari Islands , boasts seven restaurants offering a vast array of global delicacies. Another Maldives mainstay, Soneva Fushi , offers some of the largest overwater villas in the world, perfect for viewing the area’s breathtakingly clear waters. And if you’re a fan of exploring tropical travel via social media, you’ve likely caught an eyeful of Instagram favorite Soneva Jani . This Maldives destination provides guests plenty of playful options, ranging from a waterslide to a trip on one of the resort’s seaplanes.
