Dear Cattlemen, Welcome to our 47th Annual Production Sale as we celebrate 73 years in the Angus business. We thank all the customers, supporters, competitors and employees who have been important to us along the way! We are proud of the Angus history that has been made here, as well as our sales history that includes some of the breed’s most valuable animals, yet also includes cattle that “anyone can afford,” to quote Ralph Sydenstricker. the world can compete with us in the production of high quality beef. That is our strength in the world marketplace. Investing in quality breeding stock today helps you take full advantage of the better prices we’re now seeing. We believe the Angus cow is the most efficient in the business, and the breed will continue to dominate the genet- ics of the commercial cow herd. Our EPD system has allowed us to characterize Angus bulls very specifically, so when a commercial producer buys that bull to do a certain job, he will do that job. That reputation has been the driving force for the popularity of the Angus breed in the commercial sector today. The on-going weather stresses of the last several years reinforces the flexibility of the Angus cow. We regard our position in the beef industry as research and development, finding and proving the sires that can force their way past the genetic antagonisms inherent in beef cattle production. We like to do that with as much diversity of bloodlines as possible. However, we continue to strongly pursue multi-trait excellence, not giving up the progress we’ve made solely to bring in new blood. These cattle need to excel on the measurable EPD traits to insure our customers’ profitability, and they must be sound, fertile and efficient. The use of multiple bloodlines just gives us and our customers more options to select from, and more genetic diversity for the breed. As always, we will do our best to inform you, our customer, with all the information we can to help you make good buying decisions. All breeding animals selling are either tested free of AM, NH, CA and D2, or have no pedigree risk, and that pedigree is substantiated by years of parentage verification. All animals at risk for M1 and DD are tested, and sell as is.

As time has gone on, we have seen the accuracy of genomic eval- uations increase, and every animal under five years of age that sells, is genomic tested. We hope you will be with us November 22rd to give us your eval- uation. Come early Saturday morning and enjoy our Missouri country breakfast before the sale. If you cannot be here, our sale will once again be broadcast live on the internet by DV Auction.
