ZHONG-HUA LU CHINESE BRUSH PAINTING

Zhong-hua Lu is a native of Shandong Province, China, and has been an American Citizen since 2002. Zhong-hua learned to paint from his father as a child and continued to practice throughout the Cultural Revolution when traditional arts were banned. Zhong-hua lives with his wife in rural upstate New York where he daily practices the traditional Chinese arts of Qigong, Chinese brush painting, and Tai Chi. He received a 2015 Individual Artist grant for painting in 2005 and was a NYFA finalist in 2016. Zhong-hua also was a recipient of a 2018 NYFA Fellowship in Traditional Art from The New York State Foundation for the Arts. Zhong-hua shows his work at art festivals and teaches traditional Chinese brush painting in New York and Massachusetts. Zhong-hua currently teaches at Eastover Retreat Center in Lenox, MA and in Cropseyville, NY.
