Al Lowry introduced me to Monty Pearce bulls 40 years ago. Al ran the McEwen Ranch and exclusively used Pearce bulls. They ran 2,000 cows on a big, rugged country in Oregon. Those cows had to work hard. The yearlings then came to the Bell A. They performed great. They were very popular at the Winnemucca sale. I have used Pearce bulls for 35 years on my own cows. They fed well and graded great. The cattle have great carcasses with high percent choice and prime. I have a lot of repeat buyers. Lots of the heifers go on to be mother cows. And I get a lot of cows that make it to 15 years old or better!
We’ve been buying bulls from Monty since the early 80’s. We like the bulls for their thickness, longevity, conformation, low maintenance, easy fleshing, and good dispositions. We like that they’ve been raised out so that they don't think that we cut off their head when we turn them out with our cows. These bulls don’t take as much to keep them going because they've been raised in the environment we need them to go to work in. We have bought bulls in other places but they kind of fall apart when we turn out. We like that these bulls are raised out where commercial cattle run.

My dad is Al Lowry, the best cow man I’ve ever known. He has used Memory Ranches bulls for 40 plus years and his cow herd is the best in the business and fellow ranchers use his cows as a benchmark. In the early 90’s, I was looking to buy some bulls for an outfit I was taking care of, dad talked me into buying some bulls from Monty. We were weaning 550lb steers at the time and in 5 years time we were weaning 675lb steers. Me and my wife, Jody, have a little bunch of dad’s cows so last fall we bought 2 black bulls from Memory Ranches and they didn’t disappoint. Calves are small when born and grow like weeds. Our pregnancy percentage went from 92% to 97% and our percentage of cows bred in the first heat cycle went up as well, getting 85% of our calves born in the first 30 days. Memory Ranches bulls are the best!
