There’s an old parable called “The Camel’s Nose” about a man and his camel traveling through the desert. The man allows the camel to stick its nose into the tent for warmth, but the camel gradually persuades him to allow more and more of its body inside. Eventually the camel completely takes over the tent and the man is left to sleep outside in the cold. Today we are facing our own metaphorical “camel” in the beef industry. Bill Gates, billionaire and globalist, in January 2023 said there were two paths to solving the emissions created by cows. “You can either fix the cows to stop them doing that (burping and farting) or you can make beef without the cow.” Jeff Bezos, billionaire and founder of Amazon, is pushing the narrative that the burping and flatulence produced by livestock is a major contributor to the methane supposedly causing the global temperature increase, which is supposedly contributing to global warming, and the supposed “end of the world”. Bezos and Gates have both thrown millions at funding the creation of lab grown meat, synthetic milk, and methane-reducing vaccines for cattle. They are also working on the development of a “digital twin of the cattle rumen to test emission reducing strategies using AI”. Tony Heller of Real Climate Science said that, “Methane makes up less than two parts per million in the atmosphere, and is so unimportant that many climate modelers don’t even bother to use it in their models. The war on cattle and meat is based on mindless junk science.” The climate change and global warming narrative as a whole is one of the biggest frauds ever imposed on the world. These radical climate activists also advocate reducing or phasing down cattle, limiting grazing in the west, and shrinking animal agriculture altogether. In case things are still unclear to you, they are vilifying agriculture, livestock, farmers, and ranchers, also known as “those that feed the world”. If they can’t control the American rancher then they want to eliminate us. Unfortunately, the American Angus Association (AAA) has taken 4.85 million to disperse, from the Bezos Earth Fund to researchers studying methane in cows. First, accepting these funds carries the implication that we think cows have a methane problem. Grazing grass is part of the solution for the conservation of land, wildlife, and rural economies. As ranchers we all try to improve on the cattle that we have stewardship over, but partnering with these groups that have alternative motives is where we run into issues. After AAA blows through 4.85 million, what’s next? Who owns the research? What kind of pressure will the industry be under to use the research? Who will have access to the studies? Nineteen out of twenty times whoever pays for the research to be done will have the results show what they want it to show. Today's cattlemen have never had it so good and bad at the same time. Fighting the environment hasn't changed. But the changing environmental battle is real and not to be ignored with its long-lasting repercussions. The organizations that represent the US cattlemen have a responsibility to help safeguard the tradition of raising cattle from pasture to plate. Lab grown meat, synthetic milk, and methane free cattle are not just buzz words cowboys laugh about anymore. They are a reality that will affect the next generation of ranching. Cattle are being framed as the problem in the climate narrative and this narrative is dangerous to our livelihood as ranchers but also to all the people that agriculture feeds and clothes. Our organizations need to represent us, not the billionaire elites trying to overhaul the beef industry. It’s imperative to our livelihoods, our way of life, and the continuation of the world as we know it to not let this “camel” push its way in. WE’VE GOT BEEF WITH THEIR NO BEEF POLICIES
