what was required for the UK. “I later left Deloitte and a few years later out of the blue, Nigel calls me and says, ‘You know, we have this RichieWare and it’s not Y2K com- pliant. We need another set of hands to come put the sys- tem in.’ So I joined Linpac in 1999 as an employee and put in the new system with Richie. I got to meet all the other great Linpac employees, who also turned into great friends over the years.” Then there was Shane Keigley , who joined Linpac at the Dallas plant in 1984. He wanted to be a drug salesman because his family was in the medical industry but couldn’t get hired because he only had one year of college. Kenyon Meyers, whom Keigley had grown up with, said to come work with him in a brand new plant where Shane, affection- ately known as “Kegs,” could work second shift while he was looking for another job during the day. “When I got there, I met with Cole Patrick, who was the sales manager and Sherri, who was customer service manager, and I got hired on,” remembered Keigley. “I was only 20-years old and very bold and thought I was smart, so I immediately told the general manager that I wanted to be a general manager. Not surprisingly, that didn’t happen, but two years later Bob Lang came and interviewed me and hired me, sight unseen. I went from working on the most modern corrugator in the world [the MHI] to a ‘tinker toy’ in Greensboro and I thought, ‘What the hell did I get myself into?’ But we proceeded to make ton of money and it turned out to be a lot of fun. From there, Keigley sailed through the ranks from sales rep to sales manager and then to quality manager, pro- duction manager, assistant general manager and general manager, ultimately, moving on to other plants after the sale of Linpac to US Corrugated. He’s currently the gener- al manager of PCA. “The beauty of Linpac was that everybody knew ev- erybody else, from the baler operator to the owner of the company, who was available to all of us, as were Bob and Nigel. Computers were definitely at the core of the evo- lution of our company. I thought that Mr. Cornish was ei- ther crazy or a hell of a risk taker but the way I saw it, he sent Nigel over here from the UK with a bunch of cash and he hired a bunch of us kids and said, ‘go make me some money’ and that's exactly what we did! It was just an extraordinary career at Linpac for all of us because there wasn't anything we couldn't do and nothing we weren’t allowed to do. We had no limits! We were allowed to do whatever we could dream up and we did some innovative, cutting-edge stuff, even 40 years ago.” Shane Keigley
