Meet Our New Foundation Board Members Martha O. Blaxall

A Note from our Foundation President, Karen W. Smith As our event-filled 100 th anniversary year wraps up, we are excited to move into our 101 st year of incredible library programs and services. Our $100 for 100 Campaign was tremendously successful, with over 1,370 community members donating to the library in honor of their own branch. Thank you for being part of this important recognition of 100 years of service – be sure to watch for the $100 for 100 recognition plaque that will be displayed on our new foundation kiosks in our branches in spring 2022. We are thrilled to announce that Martha O. Blaxall and Stacy L. Korbelak recently joined the Library Foundation Board of Directors. Both come to us with a wealth of community experience, knowledge and passion for our libraries. Their complete biographies are on the opposite page. For the Love of the Library went virtual this year and, while we missed being together in person, we were pleased we could celebrate with all of you from the comfort and safety of our homes. Please be sure to thank our sponsors listed on page 9 who, like you, support our library with their donations. Together we raised over $53,000, which will enhance early literacy, technology needs, outreach activities and library programs. Thank you to everyone who attended the event – it was a fabulous tribute to our incredible libraries and the donors who make it better. Giving to the library is easier than ever with our new branch “DipJars” located near information desks. (See opposite page.) So when you are visiting your favorite branch, you can “dip” your credit card and donate to make your library better. Every dollar given helps your branch staff connect with you through programming, events, outreach and creating comfortable library spaces to enhance your library experience. My sincere thanks to each of you for your generous and ongoing support of the library. Together we are making your library even better! Thanks to All Participants of $100 for 100

Martha is a retired economist and community volunteer who has served on the boards of the Annapolis Symphony, the Community Foundation of Anne Arundel County, the YWCA of Annapolis and Anne Arundel County and the Arts Council of Anne Arundel County. She is an avid reader and looks forward to being a member of the Library Foundation Board and in a position to help strengthen the Anne Arundel County Public Library. Stacy L. Korbelak

Stacy has been a community college educator since 2005 and is currently the Assistant Dean of Business, Economics and Entrepreneurial Studies at Anne Arundel Community College. She previously served on the Anne Arundel County School Board as an appointed member and chaired the County Executive’s Educated Communities Transition Team, where she learned all about the wonderful initiatives at AACPL and how the foundation helps to fund the library! Stacy and her husband live in Annapolis where she enjoys boating and reading by the river.

We are grateful to all who took part in the $100 for 100 years campaign. All expectations were exceeded when we raised more than $137,000. Our community’s outpouring of generosity provides critical funding to ensure all 16 library branches can serve customers in person or virtually.

Thanks for Joining Us at Cheers to 100 Years
