ROCKLAND NATS PICKING UP SPEED
CHRISTOPHER SMITH christopher.smith@eap.on.ca
The Rockland Nationals have two wins under their belt so far this month, and they’re hoping for more after beating out Nepean and Pembroke. The Nats went up against the Brockville Braves on Friday, December 1, starting the month off with a bang and scoring two goals in the first period. The Braves hit back though, stopping the Nats from more points and making their way onto the scoreboard in the second period. Although the Nats tried to widen the lead, the Braves stonewalled them and scored twice in the third period, leading to a 4-2 loss for the Nats. The Nats’ goals were scored by Jaden Davis and Samuel Dumont, assisted by Jacob Charron, Trystan-Félix Tremblay, Kai Stothers, and Kyle Leonard. The Sunday, December 3, game against the Carleton Place Canadians was postpo- ned due to inclement weather, but the next game on Wednesday, December 6, went on without a hitch. The Nats climbed onto the scoreboard early with a powerplay goal in the first period, but the Nepean Raiders fought back and scored in the second. The Nats were not about to repeat their loss against the Braves, fighting viciously in the third period to over- take the Raiders and maintain a comfortable lead. Although Nepean scored a third period goal, the Nats broke through their defense and scored three more times, for a final

Tremblay. Finally, the Nats hosted the Pembroke Lumber Kings at the Clarence-Rockland Arena on Friday, December 8, and the home ice advantage proved helpful. The home team scored twice in the first period, and although the Lumber Kings attempted a comeback with a single goal in the second period, the Nats scored again in the third
score of 4-2 to the Nats. The Nats’ goals were scored by Matthew Verspeeten, Leonard, and Charron, assisted by Owen Brady, Jeremie Ndeffo, Davis, and
period, making the final score 3-1 for the Nats. The Nats’ goals were scored by Guil- laume Labre, Ndeffo, and Davis, assisted by Mathieu Paquin, Anthony Hall, Maasilan Etchart, and Tremblay. The Rockland Nationals’ next game is on December 15 at the Rockland Arena against the Navan Grads.

of 4-2 in favour of the Hull-Volants. The Castors’ goals were scored by Ayden Brascoupe and Jaddus Savoie. On Sunday, December 10, the Castors redeemed themselves against the St-Isidore Eagles. Once again, both teams fought to a stalemate during the first period, but the Castors picked up steam in the second with two goals. Their fire continued to blaze into the third period where they scored five more goals, and the Eagles had no chance of overcoming their defense. The final score was 7-0 for the Castors. Their goals were scored by Mathis Gad- oua, Ty Hollett, Connor Stewart, Sean Symes, and Riley Webb, assisted by Tyler Brennan, Xavier Brunet, Jacob Dorion, Keagan Lindsey, Zachary Moen, Sean Symes, and Brascoupe. The Castors’ next game is on Sunday, December 16, at the Chesterville and District Arena against the North Dundas Rockets.
After two postponed games and one loss, the Cumberland Castors rallied with a dramatic victory. The Cumberland Castors had four games scheduled for the first week of December, but two of them were postponed for various reasons. The first game they played on Friday, December 8, was against the Gatineau Hull-Volants. The two teams fought into a stalemate during the first period, neither managing to score over the other, and then they upped the ante in the second period. The teams scored twice each, slapping the puck back and forth across the ice and matching each other play-for-play. Gatineau managed to pull ahead in the last period though, scoring twice more for a final score
