HOLIDAY SEASON SAFETY
Safeguard Personal Items Keep wallets, purses, and phones close to you when shopping or attending events. Don't leave valuables visible in your vehicle or unattended in public spaces. Once you return home, bring in all valuable items. Protect Package Deliveries With more online orders, package thefts increase this time of year. Track deliveries, ask a neighbor to pick them up if you're away, or use secure lockers and delivery locations when possible. Be Alert While Shopping Pay attention to your surroundings and keep track of your belongings. Try not to carry large amounts of cash, and always park in well-lit areas. Lock your vehicle and place purchases in the trunk or somewhere out of sight.
Travel Security for Your Home If you'll be away, make your home appear lived in by setting timers, holding mail service, or having a trusted neighbor or family member check in. Leave emergency contact info with someone reliable. Report Unusual Activity If you see something that seems out of place, such as unfamiliar cars driving slowly through neighborhoods or strangers approaching homes, call the police right away. Early reports can prevent crime. Plan for a Safe Ride Holiday gatherings often include alcohol, so plan ahead for a sober way home. Use a designated driver, ride-share, or public transportation. Extra patrols will be out to keep the roads safe.
