COMMISSION ON CANCER REACCREDITATION
Dr. Kalyan Veerina, Interventional Cardiologist at CIS, is the first in Louisiana to use the Symphony Thrombectomy System to treat peripheral vascular disease (PVD) in the legs. Congratulations to the Mary Bird Perkins Cancer Center at Opelousas General and our HIM team for obtaining their Commission on Cancer (CoC) Accreditation for another 3 years, as well as being recognized as an American College of Surgeons (ACS) Surgical Quality Partner. CoC-accredited programs undergo a survey every three years in which a reviewer examines required cancer program activity documentation to ensure compliance with standards.
