SPOTLIGHT ON SCHOOLS

In the first of a series of regular profiles, we take an in-depth look at those business schools that have recently earned AMBA accreditation. This time, we visit Miami Herbert Business School ; located in the US state of Florida, Academic Ranking of World Universities ranked it as the 25th best university in the world for business administration in 2022. HISTORY Founded in 1929 as the University of Miami School of Business, the school took on its current mantle of

the University of Miami Patti and Allan Herbert Business School (shortened to Miami Herbert Business School) in 2019, in view of lifetime donations of around $100 million bequeathed by alumni and married couple Patti and Allan Herbert.

LOCATION Miami Herbert Business School is situated in Coral Gables in Florida’s Miami-Dade County. The city lies 11km southwest of downtown Miami, which has one of the largest concentrations of international banks in the US and is home to both national and multinational companies. The Port of Miami is known as the world’s busiest cruise port in terms of the annual number of passengers, helping make Miami the US’s second-largest tourism hub for international visitors, after New York City.

COURSES Miami Herbert Business School offers undergraduate, master’s, doctoral and

executive education programmes. Known as the Miami MBA degrees, its portfolio at this level offers full-time, part-time, online and executive options. Full-time MBA options include an accelerated MBA that students can complete in seven months, as well as the traditional two-year format that predominates in the US. There is also the option of a specialised MBA in real estate and joint degrees with the University of Miami’s medical and law schools.
