What has AMBA accreditation and membership of the network meant for your school since your accreditation was first announced? “AMBA accreditation is a global mark of quality that recognises Miami Herbert’s commitment to academic excellence and continuous improvement. It has increased the school’s visibility and reputation globally, attracting high‑quality students, faculty and staff. “The accreditation has also provided the school with access to a global network of leading business schools, faculty and students, facilitating collaboration and the sharing of best practices.
University of Miami, which was founded in 1925. The business school is the second-largest of these and has a student population of around 4,000, of which approximately 1,000 are postgraduate students. The school alumni network is said to number more than 45,000 worldwide.

How would you describe your business school’s unique selling point to other members of the AMBA network?
“Miami Herbert has many unique selling points, including the school’s location in Miami, Florida, which is a renowned hub for international business and increasingly for high-level finance and technology, offering students access to a diverse and dynamic business community. “We believe in inclusivity and value the richness of experience and expertise that stems from a diverse community. Among our postgraduate students, 68 per cent identify as underrepresented minorities, 43 per cent are women and 34 per cent are international, representing 51 countries.”

Ann Olazábal, interim dean, Miami Herbert Business School
Ann Olazábal ( pictured right ) became interim dean of Miami Herbert Business School at the start of this year, having previously served as vice-dean of lifelong learning and executive education. An MBA alumna of the school, she takes over from John Quelch, who has served as dean since 2017. Quelch spoke at the AMBA & BGA Latin America Conference in Cartagena in 2022.
