Equity in Behavioral Supports Punitive methods of discipline lead to a higher number of referrals, suspensions and expulsions. They can also damage student-teacher relationships. This series help leadership teams build a learning environment where students feel safe, trusted and heard. Session 1: Reframing Discipline This session provides foundational training to underscore the link between disciplinary practices and student achievement. Learning outcomes: • Understand the links between disciplinary practices and student achievement • Gather and analyze incident data • Identify disparities in discipline practices Session 2: Disparity in Behavioral Consequences This session will help you evaluate basic incident data, prioritize climate issues, and uncover the story behind the data. Learning outcomes: • Understand who is being suspended or expelled from your school • Bore into why these incidents occurred • Explore how these incidents relate to school climate and the entire school community Session 3: Building Positive Relationships with All Students This session helps school teams design, implement, evaluate, and sustain a systematic yearlong plan for improving disciplinary practices. Learning outcomes: • Identify interventions and strategies to improve equitable application of disciplinary practices • Develop a plan to improve disciplinary practices • Evaluate your school climate efforts
