Learning through Curiosity

YEAR THREE

This year has been awesome, especially because of our Wild Action Zoo incursion! As part of our Inquiry unit, “How is Australia different to other countries?”, we have been learning about native Australian animals. During the incursion, we got to touch and hold different animals like mammals, reptiles, birds, and insects. It was so cool to see them up close and learn about their habitats and why it’s important to protect them. Another exciting moment was our first camp! It was great to spend time with friends, try new activities, and have fun away from school. We can’t wait for more adventures next year! - Krish P & Evelyn M

TERM 1 A big shout out went to our Year 3 superstars! They published their very own narrative writing, showcasing incredible creativity and imagination. The students also enjoyed exploring place value, using MAB blocks to build their names and calculate their total value using their mathematical knowledge. TERM 2 As part of their procedural writing unit, students combined creativity and literacy by making paper kites and writing step-by-step instructions. They also explored positive social skills through The Resilience Project, practising empathy, kindness, and communication during role-play activities. In Inquiry, students discovered the wonders of Australia’s native animals with a visit from the Wild Action program. Getting up close to creatures such as lizards, wombats, and crocodiles made learning exciting and memorable. TERM 3 Students took part in an engaging Linked Incursions session focused on understanding the foundations of government and democracy in Australia. Through hands-on activities and discussion, they learned how democratic principles shape our society and the importance of being active, informed citizens.

TERM 4 In Term 4, students explored The One and Only Ivan, connecting the story’s characters and themes to their own lives. In Mathematics, they strengthened their problem-solving skills, while in Inquiry, they investigated sustainability and recycling to understand how small actions can make a big difference. Sporting opportunities included 3/4 Soccer and Cricket, and students proudly presented their camp recounts. Later in the term, students enjoyed an excursion to the farm, providing them with hands-on experiences that connect to both their Inquiry learning and classroom studies. Students also looked forward to special end-of- year celebrations, marking a wonderful finish to their busy and rewarding year.
