THE MAGIC MERMAID Savannah W Year 2
THE LESSON FOR LIFE Elise Year 5
Clack Clack. The stairs were oddly old.
Ding Ding. The doorbell rang. Alice rushed to the door with Pa. Who was it, Alice thought to herself? Pa opened the door. It was Pearl, Alice’s best friend and she was holding bright bursting yellow flowers.
“Ahahah!” Uncle Pa laughed, he might have been old but he can sure laugh like a five-year-old. He lived in Cole’s Book Arcade with Alice and Clarc Stern. Alice’s sweet little smile would light up, her luscious blond hair sending a smile to heart. But Clarc sends a shiver down your spine with a single step - like a ghost in the dark. However, their home was the opposite, laughter, smiles and chatter. It’s like the Arcade had its own personality. Everyday Alice would start with a little bit of magic, but she could never get it to work, no matter how hard she tried. However, her brother Clarc could do magic as quick as lightening. His hands would send a secret message and his spell would make lights flicker, wind whistle and clouds darken, until one day that all changed…
Once upon a time in the deep, dark ocean there was lots of fish and a magic mermaid who had a pet fish called Nemo. Nemo is two years old, and the mermaid is 18 years old. One day she was going for a swim, and she turned around and Nemo wasn’t there. She panicked and then a shark came out of nowhere and attacked her. She was bleeding and crying a lot too. But luckily a whale saw and swam there as fast as he could. He took her to land, where some people saw her. They rushed her to the hospital. But the doctors said she had to have surgery because she had a shark tooth in her scales. Luckily, she survived and went home to see Nemo.
“They’re for you,” Pearl exclaimed “because of the anniversary for the Arcade.”
“Well, isn’t that lovely” Pa said.
“Thanks Pearl. I’ll put them in a vase. Do you want to help pick one?” Alice asked.
“Sorry Alice, I have to go. I’ll be late for my Art lesson otherwise, but I’m sure you’ll pick a beautiful vase.” “Okay, thanks though” Alice sighed. Clarc and the magicians were getting ready for the guests. Pa was making a new magic invention and Alice was trying to do a bit of magic but she couldn’t even make a flower petal fall. Ding Ding. The doorbell rang again! Were they expecting another visitor? Alice opened the door slightly and there in the doorway was a strange figure. They were wearing a black coat that stared into your soul just like them.
“Clarc!” Alice screamed. “Today is the day - it’s the Book Arcade’s fifth birthday!”
THE FUN BIRTHDAY Mia M Year 2
“Is it really?” Clarc asked curiously.
Once upon a time there was a girl named Luna. One morning she woke up and she changed her clothes. She went to the shop, but she forgot money, so she called her other friend to ask for money. She came to give money, and then she bought a gift. The next day she drove to the party. She gave the gift to her friend, and her friend gave her a party bag and she said, “thank you’.
“Indeed! We must get into our best clothes.” Alice gestured to the wardrobe, so Clarc got his suit with a cute little bowtie. Alice got dressed into her baby blue puffy dress with white flowers. “Come on, Clarc let’s go downstairs and help Pa.” Alice suggested.
“Hello young woman. This is Cole’s Book Arcade, right?” “My name is Alice, not young woman,” Alice replied
“Indeed.” replied Clarc.
