Exploring Together in Year Four
YEAR FOUR
One unforgettable experience this year was the Year 3/4 camp in Term 3. We loved all the fun activities, especially the flying fox with Ms. Hayton, the giant swing with Ms. Adams, and cooking camp damper with Ms. Cugnetto. It was so funny watching Mr. Abney-Hastings go on the giant swing because he couldn’t stop screaming! Ms. Adams was brave enough to try it too. We also got to meet Bo, the camp dog, who was the cutest and cheekiest dog ever—always looking for snacks on the floor! The camp was a great chance for us to challenge ourselves, try new things, and make awesome memories with our friends. - Eli M & Ella A
TERM 1 The Year 4 students were buzzing with excitement as they met their Prep buddies for the first time. With big smiles and eager faces, they greeted their companions, ready to show them around and share their knowledge. The Preps were full of curiosity, while the Year 4s proudly took on their new roles as guides and mentors. It was a heartwarming moment filled with laughter, friendship, and the beginning of a special bond. Both groups looked forward to the many fun activities they would enjoy together throughout the year. TERM 2 In Term 2, our talented Year 4 artists took part in a Cartoon Drawing Workshop with Richard Galbraith, a professional artist, author, and illustrator. He taught the students how to draw animated cartoons and inspired them with his creativity and imagination. They learned to use lines, textures, contrast, expressions, and movement to bring their characters to life. Later in the Term, the Year 4 students visited Scienceworks to explore the mysteries of solids, liquids, and gases as part of their Inquiry unit. They discovered how materials change, experimented with water in its different forms, and learned about the science behind everyday substances. It was an exciting, hands-on learning experience that brought science to life.
TERM 3 In Term 3, the Year 3/4 students embarked on their much-anticipated school camp. They jumped straight into an action-packed schedule of outdoor adventures, including the flying fox, giant swing, damper cooking, ropes course, archery, survival skills, and team-building challenges. The camp was filled with laughter, courage, and teamwork, helping students build resilience and strengthen friendships while creating unforgettable memories together. TERM 4 Term 4 shaped up to be an exciting and rewarding Term for our Year 4 cohort. A highlight was spending more time with their Prep buddies, continuing to develop their leadership skills and confidence as positive role models. The students also enjoyed an extra hour of sport each week, having fun with games like dodgeball, basketball, soccer, and footy — all to the soundtrack of songs chosen by the Year 4 teachers turned DJs! Another exciting event in Term 4 was the excursion to the Melbourne Museum and IMAX on October 27th, which linked perfectly with their Inquiry learning and offered a fun, educational experience.
