Secondary Interschool Sports

SECONDARY SPORT

As we look back on another exciting year of Secondary sport at our College, it is clear that 2025 has been filled with energy, commitment, and school spirit. Our students have embraced opportunities to compete, try new sports, and represent the College with pride, both on and off the field. This year, our sporting program has included a wide range of interschool competitions, giving students from across many year levels the chance to showcase their talents. From fast-paced Volleyball rallies and high- pressure Soccer matches to the teamwork of Netball and Basketball, every sport has offered its own unique challenges and rewards. Our Volleyball teams demonstrated fantastic growth, with players working hard to develop their skills and push themselves against strong opposition. Soccer was another highlight, with students showing determination, teamwork, and resilience in tough matches. Netball proved to be especially popular this year, with two Intermediate Girls teams entering the competition. Both teams trained with commitment and displayed excellent teamwork, sportsmanship, and skill throughout the season.

Basketball was another standout, with two energetic Year 7 Boys teams taking the court. Their enthusiasm, teamwork, and never-give-up attitude were evident in every game. These students set a strong foundation for the future of Basketball at our College and should be congratulated for their efforts. Track and Field continues to be a strong part of our sporting calendar. We had many students compete with determination at Athletics carnivals, and we are especially proud of the four students who qualified for the Regional Finals. Their achievements highlight the level of talent, perseverance, and commitment we have within our College community. Can we add in another paragraph please. A special congratulations to Ryan A who again represented the College at a National level, umpiring AFL for the School Sport Australia Australian Football Championships. Ryan has been asked numerous times to represent the sport at this level and we congratulate him on his back to back efforts and representation - a true Lakes Legend. In addition, our gymnasts represented the College with courage, strength, and resilience. Competing against a significant number of other schools, they demonstrated noticeable improvement from last year and showed incredible dedication to training and competition.

goes to all staff who gave up their time to train and coach teams this year. Your hard work and commitment ensure that our students not only have opportunities to compete but also to learn, grow, and develop valuable life skills through sport. We would also like to acknowledge the contribution of student coaches, who play an important role in supporting the running of our interschool program. Your willingness to step up and lead is greatly appreciated. Most importantly, thank you to every single student who has tried out for a team, trained, or represented our College in competition. It has been wonderful to see so many students stepping out of their comfort zones, trying new sports, and embracing the challenge of interschool competition. Across every sport, our students have consistently displayed our school values, showing commitment, dedication, perseverance, and motivation. At our College, we strive to involve as many students as possible in the sporting program, whether as players, coaches, or helpers. Sport not only provides the chance to compete but also helps build teamwork, resilience, and school pride. This year’s participation levels have been outstanding, and we look forward to building on this momentum in the years to come. Congratulations to all our athletes, teams, and coaches on a fantastic year of Secondary sport. Your achievements, effort, and spirit are a credit to yourselves and to the College. We are proud of everything you have accomplished and excited for what the future holds.

None of these achievements would be possible without the dedication of our coaches. A heartfelt thank you
