They also investigated colour theory, creating value diamonds and experimenting with colour-wheel eyes to deepen their understanding of how colours interact and influence perception. These varied explorations highlight the rich and dynamic art curriculum designed to foster creativity, technical skills, and artistic confidence. Meanwhile, our Textiles students have been diving into the ancient craft of weaving coiled baskets, reviving a long-forgotten textile technique. This project not only connects students with traditional practices but also encourages mindfulness and a sense of calm through the repetitive and focused nature of handcraft. The calming power of these crafts is something The Lakes proudly embraces as part of our commitment to student wellbeing. Through these mindful practices, students develop relaxation, improved focus, and emotional connection, which together support their mental and emotional health. By blending creativity and wellbeing, our arts and textiles programs offer a holistic approach to learning that nurtures both the mind and the spirit.
